Walleye Tournament: The 44 two-member teams were competing for prize money and merchandise, and when the last pickerel had been weighed late Sun- day afternoon, the team of Phil Currell and Doug _ Stapleton was declared the winner. They picked up $860 fer their efforts. Mr. Stapleton is a resident of Blackstock, and he and his partner are both members of the Scarborough Fire Department. # Second prize and a cheque of $602 went to the Toronto team of Richard Beaver and Jurgis Ciskevicius, while Marion and Robert Curtis placed third and took home a cheque for $258 for their efforts. ) Each of the 44 teams put' up $50 in entry fees. Brett Oosterman, Mike Patton impressive in Peterborough by Danny Millar ..Port Perry High School athletes had a tremendous day on the field but were less fortunate on the track as they sent 11 competitors to the Central Ontario Second- ary School Association (COSSA) track and field competition in Peterborough on Thursday, May 22. There were five athletes competing in seven different fields and four of them will advance to the Regional -meet on Saturday, May 31 at Trenton. Of those four, three came home with medals. Junior Brett Oosterman and Senior Mike Patton led the Rebels in their medal quest, each bringing home a silver. Oosterman finished second in the triple jump and Patton did the same in the high jump. Oosterman also competed in the long jump but didn't make the cut to the finals. In COSSA the top eight competitors go on to the final jump off. It will be the third straight year that Ooster- man will be going to the Eastern Regional meet. Last year in Brockville he was eliminated when he faulted in all three attempts. He had never before competed in a track and field 60 ladies at Summerlea by Linda Parry On Tuesday May 20 the Summerlea Ladies golfing league was out in full force. The league presently consists of 60 members who golf every Tuesday morning or evening at the Summerlea Golf Course. A hearty welcome is extended to all new members as well as the regulars.
