Thisis a week earlier due to the annual meeting of West Durham District being held in Nestleton, Community Centre May 8th. Nestleton Ladies Aid Menibers of the Nestleton Presbyterian Ladies Aid met in the Church Hall on Thurs. afternoon, after cancelling winter meetings. A welcome from the President Mrs. H. Lee was followed by a favourite hymn and the Lord's Prayer. ) Mrs. H. Visser was in charge of the Devotional Period .reading Psalm 37. She told of John Wesley having his steps halted to help a destitute neighbour, another opportunity for service. The minutes of the January meeting were read by the Secretary Miss Ruth Proutt. Correspondence included thank you notes for those remembered during illness and at Christmas. A generous donation was received from Mrs. B. Heaslip. A request was received for volunteers for community care. The Scugog Corporation issues certifi- cates for 50th and 60th wedding anniversaries. Donations will be made to the annual Spring Fair of the Hospital Auxiliary on May 3rd. An invitation was extended by the Nestleton U.C.W. to attend the Amazing Country Perform- ers Programme to be held in the United Church on April 15th. The Ladies Aid will have a booth at the Flea Market, May 31st in Nestleton Community Hall. Due to the W.I. District Annual, the May meeting will be one week later on May 15th. It will be decided then what form the summer meetings will take. An inventory of Church fixtures is to be made. The Roll Call was well answered. Mrs. Visser favoured with a beautiful solo '""O Jesus I Have Promised'. Mrs. F. Dayes read "Do Something for Somebody, Somewhere', Mrs. H. McLaughlin read "A Gift of Giving". A hymn Sa and the Mizpah Benediction closed the meeting. Mrs. F. Dayes and Mrs. H. Visser served a dainty lunch. Mrs. R. Davison extended the thanks of the ladies to the hostesses for the pleasant social time and profitable meeting. : A Pleasant Surprise The Grant Thompsons were pleased to have Ruth's teaching mate of Toronto Normal School, 1923-24 call on them. Mrs. Ruth Wood of Ashburn brought her mother Mrs. Wm. Cowan of Markham to visit on Wed. afternoon. A friendly visit and much reminiscing of the past fifty-six years. Nestleton United Church Women The Nestleton U.C.W. met at the United Church on Tuesday, April 8 at 2 p.m. The President Mrs. L. Malcolm welcomed fifteen members and one visitor opening with a poem entitled' "The Resurrection". An effective worship service was given by Gail Malcolm, the theme being "Handicapped Children". (This is the year of the handicapped)Hymn "All the way my Saviour Leads Me' was sung. The Scripture: Mark 10: 46-52. A beautiful poem "My Special Child" was read by Gail. Hymn "Jesus like a Shepherd Lead Us". Closing thought-Teach us to share our blessings with others less fortunate 'than ourselves including the handicapped. Roll Call-A favourite Easter hymn was well answered. A splendid Easter topic was presented by Mabel Cawker's group. Margaret France read a poem re-handicapped, "All the World is Mine". A skit centered around Peter, a fisherman and his commit- ment to Jesus Christ was narrated very capable by Shirley Nicholls, margaret France and Helen Vine. It was meaningful to all present. Easter is a time of renewal and Mabel Cawker presented thoughts for the Easter season and read some suggestions we might follow during Holy week. In conclusion an appropriate solo "The Stranger of Galilee" was sung by Gail Malcolm. Mr. Bruce Heaslip, Nestle- ton now a resident of Port Perry Nursing Home, isn't walking alone as yet but doing a little better. Our warmest wishes to Bruce from the area. It is wonder- ful to have Olive Heaslip back in Nestleton again after spending the winter in Port Perry to be near her husband. Malcolm playing the electric organ. The minister dedicated six Service books presented by the U.C.W. in memory of Mrs. Hattie Cole, Mr. Hermanus Vanderheul and Mr. Elmer Wright. Mr. Norman -Mairs and Mr. Lawrence Malcolm received the offering. A congregational meeting - was held following the service to revise the list of trustees. Parents with children for baptism are asked to keep May 11 in mind and advise the Minsiter. PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, April 16, 1980 -- 35 Caesarea, attended the Spring Conference of Hospital Auxiliaries Assoc. Region 7, held in Trinity United Church in Uxbridge April 9, 1980. A presentation by Whitby Psychiatric Hosp- ital was very educational and the areas of volunteer help was emphasized. The guest speaker Mrs. Elaine Baillie, Health Programs' Division, Ministry of Health, gave delegates much to think about. A most instructive convention, Seminars Attended Mr. Grahame Fish, Nestleton attended a seminar held at Guelph University April 9-11, topic Tile Drainage. On Saturday April 12, he attended a live- stock valuation for the Township of Scugog held at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto.
