Tuesday night is the Euchre and Bake Sale in the Hall and then the Hot Beef Supper on Wednesday, March 26 with three settings and advance tickets for sale by Mrs. Maurice Fralick, and Mrs. Bob Taylor. The ladies of Grace U.C.W. are quite excited about these two events and especially since they are having so many men help with the latter. Then the Mother's Auxi- liary of the Scout and Guide organizations are preparing for a Bake Sale next Satur- day afternoon in the Community Hall. Last Wednesday, 17 ladies attended the Head U.C.W. at the home of Mrs. Bonnie Gerrow. The theme of the meeting was Time and the study was conducted by Clara Dowson, Marion Carter and Helen Hortop when we were reminded not to waste our time as it passes by swiftly and to use it wise- ly. Our attention was drawn to the Scriptures of Eccle- siastes Chapter 3 - "A time for Everything." The roll call required the ladies to tell how they would like to take time for some personal accomplishment through March. It seemed some ideas were quite deci- sive while others may only be a hopeful dream. Correspondence was main- ly involved with organiza- tions and the Annual Presby- terial meeting at Northmin- ster March 26. The Hospital Auxiliary conveyed notes of = THE BAHA'I|l WRITINGS thanks for all the knitting done by various ladies. On Saturday, March 15 there will be a presentation and dance in the Community Hall for four young married couples who were married in 1979. Collections have been made for these long term Island residents namely: John Redman, Rick Taylor, Valerie Davis and Jennifer Pearce and their chosen mates. Now their friends will have a chance to meet with them and enjoy an evening of fun. Those who attend are requested to bring some lunch to be combined and served. Among the sick Mrs. Marion Hughes is recupera- ting after a stay in the Port Perry and Oshawa Hospi- tals. Mrs. Reta Wilkinson has been in the Port Perry Hos- pital since last Wednesday for a rest and rebuilding of debility. Mrs. Sam McDowell had 'the misfortune of receiving a badly burned hand which requires daily dressing at the hospital. Here's hoping it will soon be healed. Sunday evening the Island Scouts had a hockey game with their fathers and were proud to announce a win of 16 to 14. But you can see the fathers gave them some live- ly competition. Accordingly, the ladies of the Island Church will sponsor an Easter Breakfast in the Island Hall 8:30 to 9:30. After that you may attend the Church of your choice. But we do hope all adherents of the Island Church will attend before the Service. We'll need to know how many to provide for. As plans progress watch for information. It's time to start gathering information regarding the showing on Art and Craft at the Annual Island Show in the Community Hall in April. If you know of local Art work please contact Elizabeth Stichmann or Reta Reader. For crafts or demonstrations of new crafts, please contact Clara Dowson or Anne Alstein or any member of the Head U.C.W. so the mes- sages can be passed on to the committees. Get your young plants started for sale. There will also be a white elephant table perhaps to barter. For the roll call at the April meeting, members are requested to bring a small craft for sale. Congratulations to Jenny and Steve Krajcik who opened a General Market on March 7 at Caesarea. We wish them good luck. In the Island Church on Sunday everyone wondered why it was so warm and eventually all learned of the insulation job done on Tues- day and concluded we were already enjoying the results. The many people who attended, witnessed the sacrament of Baptism when three children were presen- ted by their parents. The well known skaters, Mrs. Barbara and Mr. Rick Stephens of Fralick's Beach brought their infant son Brett Arron who was bap- tized by Rev. Linstead with Mrs. Marion and Mr. Charlie Labanovitch as godmother and godfather. Then Mr. and Mrs. Sam McDowell, living in the Manse house, presen- ted their little daughter Leanne Carol and little son Wayne Thomas. The god- parents from Campbellford had been detained because of a storm. Mr. George Samells as an welcomed all into the minis- try of the church. There has been some recent discussion on Bap- tism and we are requested to read the article in the March '"'Observer."" There are many beliefs and opinions on this Sacrament. < <> & REG.RD.8 ¥ FAIR REACH IND. PARK LILLA ST. HWY. 12 N A Elder - WOODWORKING SHOP Pine - Cupboards - Furniture 'YOUNAME IT ...
