The game was the second one-sided win for the MoJacks over the Merchants in two weeks as they had beaten them 10-3 earlier. Of the 11 markers, four of them were on power plays and one came while Port Perry was shorthanded. All three third period goals came with a Merchant man sitting in the penalty box. There were other stand- outs, Cochrane not inlcuded. Mike Healey scored two goals and added an assist while Steve Geer scored once and set up one. Both for- wards were playing part time. Raymond Gibson relieved starting goalie Merle Schewaga at the beginning of the third period and turned away ten shots, many of them difficult ones. In the lineup were winger Gord Hintze and defenceman Robert Kemp. Kemp started the season along the blueline for the MoJacks but was injured when he was hit on the ankle in a game in Bowmanville early in the year. Hintze was with the team last year. Regular captain Bill Bridge, and defencemen Bill Owen and Steve Jones were the regulars missing along with forward Dave Alexan- der. Rookie Clark Menzies was named captain for the game. Rob Greiner got the first goal of the game with Cordell Roberts in the penalty box for interference at 5:20. His shot was redirected by Rudd off defenceman Paul Starr's stick. It was unassisted. Cochrane put the MoJacks up 2-0 less than a minute later by tipping in Charles Tyson's blueline shot. A head-man pass from the blue line to center from Kelly Neals to Mike Healey started the third MoJack goal that was scored after Mike Mitchell took a clean pass from Healey. Little Britain came back MAK Rohit RAINE v8 vo ey Rt RFA UPAR #5 23 Ur E00 AS LURE HE with two goals, on some hap- hazard work by the MoJacks in their own end. From Ken Drinkwalter and Geoff Field. These scores were tallied before Rudd took on Port's Darrin Jobb, in a furious exchange behind the Mer- chants' net. Jobb labelled Rudd with a clean check while Rudd was handling the puck and Rudd retaliated by swinging at Jobb, hitting him several times with his stick hand glove. Cochrane and Field were fortunate not to -get thrown out of the contest when Field attempted to help his goaler while Cochrane pinned him against the boards less than ten feet away from the fray. Had Cochrane been ejected, he would have no chance of catching Port Hope Panther scoring machine Grey Bullen for league scoring title. The two have been neck and neck all the way, with Bullen leading. . The Cochrane - Geer - Jobb line scored two goals on the first shift of the second period to give Port a 6-2 lead. Cochrane and Geer did the damage. Merchants got one of those goals back when Drinkwal- ter went around defenceman Broncos defeat Uxbridge [From page 11] was forced to make a stop. A few minutes later Horne caught rugged defenceman Keith Trembley flatfooted and went around him for the shot. Horn's opportunities were matched by Healey, who nearly netted two goals later in the same period. Uxbridge drew to within a goal on a drive by Dave Pearle as he flew down the left wing and beat Christie with a blazing slap shot into the lower corner, after taking a pass from Darrin Shallow. Pearle had a goal called back that was almost identical to that one when he let the shot go from the right wing, six minutes later. The goal was disallowed on an elbowing call against Horne. Uxbridge caused a bit of excitement in the last minute of play. Rumford was handed an unsportsmanlike conduct sentence with 47 seconds left and they took FEATURING: LE EE I EE the opportunity of the break in the action to pull Davis for a sixth skater. They lined up four men near the circle and two more just inside the blue line. They did not come close to scoring. Good positional hockey earned Port Perry the game as Port Hope did not find it easy to edge in too many goals. Jarrett Harmen fed the pass to Jeff Mills who fired away the first goal. Mike Sorley secured the game with his next two goals with an assist from Jeff Mills. A sound defence for Port Perry kept us in the lead. Cochrane and Drinkwalter exchanged goals before Merchant Tim Pearson scored on an unusual play. Pearson netted the fifth Merchants goal when Tyson and -Rob Garron both con- verged on puck carrier Field and Pearson was left open in front of Schewaga for a pass. Chris Robertson scored with 56 seconds left to account for the final goal of the period. Notice of the Region's program is being provided in advance of construction and the Works Committee will, at one of its regular meetings, consider comments from the public pertain- minutes as they outscored Little Britain 3-0 on tallies by Garrow, Healey, and Cochrane. All of the goals came with Merchants in the penalty box. Menzies did the legwork on the Garrow goal as he carried the puck around the net and fed it to Garrow, who was left unprotected in front, for the easy shot, as Roberts was off for slashing. Cochrane was double shifted in the final period in an obvious attempt to add to his points total. He played the point on the power play and took his regular shift at center. Whomever steps between the pipes for Port Perry, be it Gibson or Schewaga, will have his work cut out for him so they could be as big a factor as the high scorers. Home ice could also be a factor.
