Take the test and see Thanks to Participaction, countless testimonials and a bombardment of media coverage, Canadians now recognize they are in poor physical condition. An awareness for the need to improve has been attained. The problem has been acknowledged. Now we enter phase II....doing something about it. But in order to develop a healthy pattern of living specific instructions are required. General principles of fitness must be applied to the specific situation of each individual. This is necessary for two reasons. One is to ensure the safety of the new fitness convert and the other is to make sure the fitness program is effective. This need for specific information on an individual basis is the purpose behind fitness testing. To make exercise recommendations meaningful, a thorough evaluation of the person's present level of fitness is required. And so, if you recognize that you're not in the physi- Nene AISI REL SS A NG SIFY cal condition you ought to be in, welcome to Phase II (You've got lots of com- pany.) The FitTest Van operated by the University of Toronto Department of Athletics under the sponsorship of the Ontario Ministry of Culture and Recreation conducts exercise fitness tests de- signed to determine physical work capacity. FitTest evaluation includes a cardiovascular fitness test with electro- cardiogram monitoring, the measurement of lung capa- city, ideal body weight, blood pressure, flexibility and strength. Following the assessment is a consultation period where the recom- mended exercise program is described in detail. The FitTest program in this area will be held at Uxpool in Uxbridge on November 22, and also from December 3 to 7 at Uxpool. The fee for the test is $15 and advance appointments are required. Pee Wee B's take it on chin by Danny Millar Jim Abraham scored the only goal for Stone Realtor sponsored Port Perry as the Pee Wee B team lost 8-1 to Cannington en Saturday, November 10 in Port Perry. The game was as one-sided as the score suggests. Cann- ington controlled play throughout with their super- ior skating and shooting abilities. Abraham's goal came on a very close play with 5:06 remaining in the game. Abraham's initial attempt was blocked by Cannington netminder Glen Tully but the rebound from Dave Cannon landed just on the goal line. Abraham tipped in the puck the rest of the way and ended up in the crease, nearly nullifying the goal as he came dangerously close to interfering with Tully. The Abraham marker was one of the few bright spots for the homebrews. They fell behind 2:28 into the match as Robbie Alexander accepted a cross rink pass from Steve Surjanac and backhanded a shot past Chris Cookman, who did not play particularly well between the Port Perry pipes. Cookman played over half the game before being re- placed with Stephen Patter- son with 5:09 to go in the middle session. The score was 5-0 at that point. Patter- son performed adequately the rest of the way. Cannington added two G. 'CLOSED FOR HOLIDAYS OCTOBER 6th to 20th, 1979 more goals before the first period ended. The combina- tion of center Troy Hales and left winger Paul Butterworth was deadly for Cannington when they accounted for the second goal as Butterworth passed from behind the net to Hales in front. Butter- worth finished the night with three goals and linemate Hales had a goal and three assists. They were the key threats in the Cannington offensive system, which con- sisted of a smooth passing attack. Cannington opened period number two with a Surjanac goal on a cross "pass from a linemate. The only physical encounter of the game occurred with 5:39 to play in the frame when Butterworth and Cookman collided in the crease. The two got their sticks up at each other and Port Perry coach Merle Schewaga used . this interval to replace Cookman. Butterworth got the first goal against Patterson with 1:40 remaining when popped in a Robbie Sedore rebound. For some reason defence- man Sedore was not acreditt- ed with an assist. It came with both units a man down. Hales scored on his own rebound early in the third to start that frame's scoring. Hale shot from the right corner and showed some guile in following the puck to where he banged in the rebound at the side of the post.
