The popular Huggett Family, recently featured in the Toronto Star and well known on stage, television, and radio will present a Christmas family concert of Renaissance dance and music Thursday, December 6. For the third program in the Subscription Series the Town Hall stage will be occupied by a former Port Perry boy Kenneth Webster, son of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Webster. Joining him on the stage is associate vocalist Phyllis Cooper in a perfor- mance of solo and duo songs with piano accompaniment. While residing in Port Perry, Mr. Webster studied piano with Mrs. Harper and cello with Vic Stouffer. The final and climax of Subscription Series will again feature Tom Millar and the faithful Scugog Choral Society accompanist, Gloria Forder. The event takes place on Friday, March 28, and the program is "'an evening of piano duets and solos." After being absent for one year, the popular New Year's Eve Ball will return to Town Hall 1873, a real gala event with live music by Martin Muzik of Oshawa. "The provincial summer games are held each year to give Junior Farmers an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities in summer sports," says Rod Stork, of youth extension, Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food Each team or individual competitor in the summer games qualifies by winning competitions at the county or district level, and at the zone level. There are seven zones in the province. Summer games events include men's and ladies' softball, slow-pitch baseball, track and field, swimming, men's and ladies' tug-of-war, rifle shooting, horseshoe pitching and tennis. One of the highlights of the 1979 games is the provincial tractor safety rodeo which is being held in conjunction with the games for the first time. More than 20 Junior Farmers qualified for the provincial final at eight local competitions held earlier this summer. The tractor rodeo will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The summer games offer New Staff Seargant for Scugog-Uxbridge Durham Region Police Chief Jon Jenkins announced Tuesday that Staff-Sgt. Don Robson has been named offi- cer in charge of the Scugog- Cedar Creek Mr. and Mrs. John den Boer spent last week in the Bobcaygeon area and one day in Algonquin Park. Mrs. Margaret Larocque and her daughter Pauline Grant, of Oshawa, were Fri- day evening visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Victor La- rocque. George Kilpatrick visited his cousin, Marie Henstock and family in Oshawa Satur- day evening. Other visitors were Marie's mother, Janet Porter of Toronto, Dorothy Clark and her son Allen of Toronto, Eleanor Palmer and daughter Tracy of Bos- ton, Mass. and Laura Porter of New York. Dorothy Clark's eldest son, John had been married on August 2nd and the Porter family had all been together for the wedding.
