Carol Rott attended a dinner at Port Perry Legion on Thursday, July 26th which was held in honour of twelve Guides and Guides from London, England. Mrs. Lizzie Cookman of Sunderland visited Mr. and Mrs. Ross Cookman on the weekend. } Several school teachers attended a picnic in Scott Township at the residence of More tile drain loans Agriculture and Food Min- ister Bill Newman has an- nounced that an additional $2 million will be added to the tile drainage loan fund, bringing the total budget for the fiscal year to $20 million. The additional $2 million will be added to the unused portions of the allocations made to municipalities at the beginning of the year and will be distributed in Sep- tember to municipalities which indicate they need additional funds. In makin the announce- ment, Mr. Newman said, "This extra money will en- able more of our farmers to take advantage of low-cost drainage loans to improve their productivity." In the past three years, more than 320,000 acres have been tiled, using funds under the tile drainage loan program. Mr. and Mrs. Brown last week. Mr. and Mrs. Mel McGee spent a weekend in Toronto visiting Mr. and Mrs. Meryn McGee. Mr. and Mrs. Almer Rennie of Sunderland have returned from out West and visited Pat and Bob Spencer on Thursday. Ten tables of euchre were played at the card party in the Hall Friday evening. Next party is August 10, at 8 p.m. Decoration will be held at Greenbank Cemetery August 19th. Church and Sunday School are cancelled for the month of August. Several Scouts and their leader, Mr. Paul Saulnier have returned from a holiday in Manitoba. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hood of Toronto, and Mr. and Mrs. Doug Lunney of Whitby were guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. McMillan on Sunday. The Ianson family picnic was held on Sunday at Lake Dalyrumple.. Vacation Bible School held last week was very success- ful, and they concluded their sessions with a program of songs and crafts on Friday evening. Some of the songs were sung in Church Sunday morning and were enjoyed very much by everyone. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Phoenix spent the weekend at Mountain Lake, visiting Mr. and Mrs. Keith Bagg. Obituary | ALLAN FRANKLIN NOTTINGHAM Many friends and relatives learned with deep regret of the sudden passing of Frank Nottingham who entered into eternal rest on June 30, 1979 in his 75th year after 6 days of illness in Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay. Frank was born on the 6th concession of Reach Town- ship and at an early age moved to a farm at Raglan with his parents, the late John Nottingham and Cath- erine C.Ferguson. In 1928 he married Hazel Shunk and in 1934 they moved to Sonya where they still farmed. : Frank was a member of Sc. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Sonya. Also an active member of Britain - Lodge 316 of the Independent Order of Oddfellows. "Frank was also a member of the Victoria County Plowman's Association and he also coached at several plowing matches in Ontario for sev- eral years. Frank was also an active curler in younger years. Left to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father are Hazel, his wife, and son Ross and his wife Shirley and daughter Kay and her hus- band Lawrence Morrison. Also 8 grandchildren and one great grandaughter. There are also 2 sisters, Mrs. Lorne H. Knapp (Mar- ie) of Oshawa, Mrs. Earl Squelch (Erie) of Columbus, his 2 brothers Stan of R.R.1 Oshawa and Roy of Caesarea and the late Fergus Notting- ham. The many beautiful floral tributes and many memor- iams were silent tokens of the esteem in which he was held. The funeral was held on Monday July 2nd from the chapel of McDermont-Pana- baker, Port Perry. A very comforting mess- age was delivered by Rev. Stuart McEntyre of St. John's of Port Perry. Inter- ment at Pine Grove Ceme- tery after which friends and relatives participated in a lovely luncheon and a friend- ly cup of tea served by friends and neighbours of Sonya. The pallbearers were 5 grandsons: Keith Brian and Ivan Nottingham, Ron and Glen Morrison and Robert Blair. © © 1]
