Pendlebury may enjoy a much earned holiday. On July 15th we will be worship- ping at Goodwood Church at 10:00 a.m. and the following week at Utica at 10:00 a.m. This past Sunday our con- gregation was delighted to have visitors Mr. Learoyd and his grandson. Mr. Lea- royd is the son of Rev. W. Learoyd who was Minister here from 1895-1899. The Strawberry Social which was held Saturday evening in the hall was a success thanks to the many people who helped. The following is a rundown of some of those who perform- ed during the evening: Mrs. Cathy Potter sang accom- panied by Mrs. Eileen Slute at the piano; Misses Tracy Gourlie, Anne Tapscott, Don- na Kerry, Jeanette and Esth- er Houghland and Julie Ash- ton performed in a play entitled "Slightly Exagger- ated"; song by Walt Kerry; Monologue entitled "Den Mother" by Mrs. Joan Clow; song by Donna Kerry, Anne Tapscott and Faye Ashton, numbers by Geordie Beare on the guitar and banjo with songs by George Timms and pianist Marie Cookman; Pet- er Emmings and Faye Ash- ton in a play "Proposal"; The Kerry Family and Anne Tapscott with songs accom- panied by Mrs. Donna Van Veghel at the piano. Let's not forget the strawberry pickers and Mrs. Hilda Bail- ey for donating them, and the U.C.W. members for the cakes. There were 16 tables of euchre in the hall on Friday evening, prizes going to Lena Ogden, Mary Sweetman, and Ruth Beach had the low score for the ladies. Men - Ab Timms, J. Poots, Tom Eden had low. Freeze-out winners were Stan and Ruth Beach and Hardy Noble and Jim Evans getting second. There will be another euchre in two weeks. Mrs. Mildred Thompson was Sunday luncheon guest of her mother Mrs. Jim Miller at Mount Albert. Sun- day evening guests with Mrs. Thompson were Mr. and Mrs. Ron Yent and daughter Linda from Dunnville. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Slute and boys were Saturday sup- per guests with Mr. and Mrs. Larry Ross and family. Mrs. Alice Ross spent 3 days in Toronto at the Rebec- ca Assembly convention at the Royal York last week. Mrs. William Brown at- tended a baby shower at the home of Mrs. Bob Barraball in Oshawa for mother-to-be Mrs. Dorothy Gerrow, on Wednesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. William Brown, Charlie and Michael Tobin were in Haliburton on the week-end. Mr. and Mrs.Tom Under- wood from Port Elgin and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Whitwell from Hamilton visited with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hooker on the week-end. Best wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Larry Postill who have taken up residence in Prince Albert. Mr. and Mrs. John Carre of Bridgenorth were week- end guests with Mr. and Mrs. Eric Carre and family. On Mrs. John Murray of Port Perry celebrated her 90th birthday June 19 with family and friends from Ontario, and her brother Harry Mckenzie, who travelled from Dartmouth, occasion. Grandson N.S. for the special lan Beare presented Mrs. Murray with a 90-year plaque. Sunday, Mr. Trevor Carre of Toronto and Mr. and Mrs. John Gillespie of Point Ed- ward visited the Carre's to help celebrate the wedding anniversary of the John Carres. Mr. and Mrs. George Har- per attended decoration ser- vice at Zion and were dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Mike Schofield and family, on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Doug McKin- ley of Willowdale and Mrs. Pearl Hodgson of Oshawa visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Bailey on Sunday. Sunday visitors with Mrs. Bessie MacCannell were Mr. Grant MacCannell of Mark- ham, Mr. and Mrs. Ray MacCannell of Durham, Mr. and Mrs. Jim McLean of Shelbourne. Mrs. Chester Holley of Markdale is spend- ing a few days with Mrs. MacCannell. The first one was given by daughter- in-law Judy on Friday at which time cousins and former neighbours attended for a luncheon. On Sunday Mrs. Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Taylor and family at- tended another party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Bielby at Cedar Grove. Many Happy Returns. Mrs. "N Gray from St. Albans, England is spending a few weeks with her daught- er and family Mr. and Mrs. Mole. Mr. and Mrs. Barry Mole have moved into their new home at Sunrise Beach. Congratulations to Miss Kathy Sutcliffe who was the recipient of the Bethesda Reach W.I. gward for Eng- lish in grade 6. She was also presented with a bracelet.
