Anniversary Service -North Nestleton A good congregation was present for the Sunday School Anniversary Service held at the United Church at 11 o'clock, with the Sunday school Superintendent Mr. Robert Mairs conducting the Service. With Mrs. Carol Mairs playing the organ the Ser- vice opened with the Choir Processional "Jesus Loves The Little Children," follow- _ed by the Scripture, Pro- verbs 20-Ver:11, and the children's story entitled, "High Up Doorbell", read by Mr. Lawrence Malcolm. The children's Choir sang three numbers, "In The Temple," ---*0 Be Careful," and "It's A Small World". Guest speakers were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Leslie of Ferney House, Pickering, a Presbyterian Home for del- inquent boys. They minister- ed in song and story, to the delight of children and adults alike. The Leslies sang, "Something beautiful, some- thing good,'and "I,m so glad to be part of the family of God." They closed the serv- ice with, "Let there be peace on earth." Nestleton Presbyterian Church Service at the Presbyter- ian Church was Christian Family Sunday. Miss Bul- mar delivered a fine dis- course of the topic 'Spiritual Dryness'. The Choir sang an anthem | Nestleton. Caesarea "I am the Way" and Mich- elle and Michael Douglas favoured with a duet accom- panied by their Mother. Mr. George Scott led in Respon- sive reading and Mr. Jas. Douglas read the 23rd Psalm during the Meditation per- iod. A Prayer of Thanksgiv- ing for 'Our Family" closed the service. As June 24th is Annivers- ary Sunday at Sonya at 11A.M., Nestleton Presbyter- ian Church Service well be withdrawn on that date. Matter of Interest The group of concerned citizens regarding the petit- ion in Ward 4 (Cartwright) to ask Bell Canada to re-consid- er its position on toll free calls to Oshawa have posted the petition in all Ward 4 communities the week of May 9th. Organizers hope all phone subscribers in Ward 4 will sign. The petitions will remain in the stores, etc. and then be presented at the meeting of Scugog Twp. Council on June 11th, at the Municipal Hall, Port Perry, when a representative from Bell Canada will be present to discuss the situation. a misunderstanding on the part of some that the petition would be taken door to door is not true. all those interest- ed re this matter should attend the meeting. Social News Mr. and Mrs. Victor Mal- colm entertained three Grandaughters over the week-end, and took them to the Anniversary Service at Nestleton Church. Their little guest were: Katrina, Dawne and Tamara Denise Kent of Orono, daughters of Mr. and Mr. Jamie Kent. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Malcolm . Nestleton, were: Mrs. and Mrs. Glenn Malcolm, Heath- er and Alison, Nestleton, and Miss Gail Malcolm of Black- stock. We are pleased to report that Mr. Bruce Heaslip was home Friday and Sunday evenings for supper. Mrs. Helen Vine, who nurses at the Home accompanied Mr. and Mr. and Mrs. Heaslip. Week-end guests with Bruce and Olive were: Mr. and Mrs. Donald Frew, Nestle- ton, Mr. and Mrs. Percy McMahon and Evelyn Culley of Scarboro, and Miss Lillian Lawson, Lindsay who was an overnight guest. Birthday Celebration Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dayes 'hosted a Birthday party on Saturday evening for three Grandaughters and a Grand- son, all in their teens. The honoured teenagers were: Christine, Denise, Cheryl and Stewart Dayes. There were ten at the party alto- gether.
