A portion of the lanson farm was donated to the village of Greenbank in 1948 and has since been used by the residents of the area as their park. In their honour Mayor Jerry Taylor : [right] and councillor Don Crosier unveiled the plaque bearing the new name. lanson Park dedicated at Greenbank on Sunday A good crowd was on hand at Greenbank on Sunday afternoon as members of the community and Scugog council were on hand to dedicate their park as the Ianson Park. After the singing of O Canada and the prayer of Invocation by Rev. Reg Rose, duced the guests present for the occasion. Jim Green welcomed all those present and gave a brief outline of the history of s the park going back to when the Ianson's donated three acres of their farm in 1948 for use as a park. An additional 2 acres were secured for the park in 1977 from Scugog "Realty as part of their sub- division agreement. The park includes two ball diamonds, soccer field, amphitheatre, future tennis courts, horseshoe pits and lots of room for both children and adults to utilize. Mayor Jerry Taylor of Scugog was on hand to officially open the park under its new name and said that he was pleased to see that the community had decided to call it the Ianson Park. He complimented the parks board on their ambitious park program and said that it was obvious that many people had worked hard to bring it to its present state. The Mayor said that it was very gratifying for him o Nd to see the community involvement in Greenbank and to see these people working towards a goal. | Arnie Celsie intro-: Mr. Taylor pledged councils support as much as possible with the completing of the park and then, along with councillor Don Crosier and Mrs. Ianson unveiled the plaque revealing the large wooden sign. Cubs and scouts from the Greenbank and Sea- grave packs took part in the lanson Park dedication last Sunday by planting a tree.
