Several reports of wind damage have been heard including word that Harold Medd had the top of his silo blown off. Mrs. Belle Werry, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Werry visited her sister Mrs. Lola Dawson at Fraserville on Wednesday when she was celebrating her 91st birthday. Robert Lee is a patient in Port Perry Hospital. Better health is wished for you, Bob. Mr. Gordon Paisley, Craig and Cathy spent the weekend at Dunnville and were guests on Saturday at the, wedding of his niece Miss Judy Paisley and Mr. Brian Elliott. Rev. Ronald and Mrs. Archer, Cynthia and Nathan of Scarborough, Mr. and Mrs Jim Archer, Kimberly and Danny of Bowmanville were Sunday visitors of their grandmother Mrs. Wilbert Archer. } Mrs. Mary Sheen of Toron- to visited her daughter Miss Susan Sheen who has been ill for some time. Her many friends hope that she will soon be able to be back teaching at the local High School. Mr. and Mrs. John Mew of Toronto were weekend visitors of her mother Mrs. Helen Beacock. On April 2 at the Cart- wright "B' Troop, Black- stock Scout Meeting Tim Maw, Brian Goble, and Robert Akkerman were invested as Boy Scouts by Scouter Harvey McDiarmid, Bob Swain and Murray.. Archibald. The boys were welcomed to the troop by their fellow Scouts. Plans are well underway for a Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, April 15 at 9 a.m. to 1 pm. at the Blackstock Recreation Centre. This event is sponsored by the Kinsmen Club in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bailey held a family birthday party at the Conway Gardens at Port Perry on Sunday cele- brating both their birthdays. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Allan Bailey, Sharon, Laurie and Janet, Mr. and Mrs. Hector Shortridge and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Shortridge. Many happy returns Frank and Jemie. . On Sunday afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Ed Harris received - a large number of friends and relatives on the occasion of their 50th wedding anni- versary at the Blackstock Recreation Centre. Mrs. Harris was wearing a long dress of hot pink with a corsage of white roses and gold ribbon. . Helping to receive their guests were the' family, Mrs. Jean Mahaffy, Mrs. Lorna Edgerton, Mrs. Shirley Magill, Mrs. Reta Birkett, Mrs. Verna Chap- man and Mr. Jim Harris. The grandchildren were in charge of the guest book. Pouring tea and coffee at the table which was graced by a Horseshoe shaped wedding cake and white candles were Mrs. Royal Whitfield, Mrs. Cecil Hamilton, Mrs. Lorne Hoskin and Mrs. Jean Trewin. Assisting at the tables which were decorated by single gold roses in bud vases were Linda Chapman, Cathy Bracken, Heather McLaughin and Cathy Gunter. Mrs. Harris' two brothers, Mr. Alex Flett of Fenelon Falls, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Flett of Bowman- ville were also in attendance. Mr. Jim Harris of Norval was a weekend guest of his parents Mr. and Mrs. Ed Harris. At the Blackstock United Church Mrs. Debbie Curle and Mrs. Nancy McConnell were welcomed by confir- mation on profession of faith and Mr. Gary McConnell by transfer. The teenage choir sang "The Greatest Gift" and Lois VanCamp sang a fine solo "Open the Gates'. An excellent sermon by Rev. V. Parsons "Royal Wel- come" and the communion service completed the service. About a hundred curlers and their friends attended the annual Banquet of the Blackstock Curling Club on Saturday evening at the Rec Centre. Following the saying of Grace by Victor Parsons and the Toast to the Queen everyone enjoyed the Banquet of Spare Ribs and Ham. = President Denzil Moore introduced the head table guests after which Treasurer Gerald Kelly gave his report. Neil Werry expressed the customary thanks to the ladies of the W.I. for the delicious meal. Throughout the evening the - following door prizes were drawn won. A basket of fruit by Dowson's Red & White - Donna Kyte; Seeds by Swains Cleaning - Brenda Malcolm; Meat from D & J Packers - Carol Jamieson; Voucher from Beacock's Hardware - Ralph Swain; voucher from Marlow's Feed Mill - Beth Schryburt; Camping - Stove by Peter- borough Lumber - Shirley Robson. Tickets were sold on a 17 Ib. roast donated by Canadian Dressed Meats Ltd. and was won by Ernie Swain. Vice President Cameron Porter presented the prizes to first place team of Terry Malcolm, Roy McLaughlin, Trevor Nesbitt, and Perry Grandell. Merlin Suggitt also presented a renovated Suggitt trophy which has been in continuous competi- tion since 1957 to Terry's rink. Second place rink was Keith Goble, Gerald Kelly, Merlin Suggitt and Reg Hughes. Third Place rink ws was Cameron Port, Keith VanCamp, Doug Danter and Roy Grierson. Schedule Manager Merline Suggitt presented the Men's Bonspiel Trophy to Gerry Oke, Floyd Argue, Dalton Dorrell and Dale VanCamp. Harvey Graham, presi- dent of the Mixed Curling announced the winners of mixed curling schedule was the rink of John Larmer, Lois VanCamp, Dale Van- Camp and Valerie Van- Camp. Bill Thompson presented this rink with the Thompson trophy and individual trophies. Harvey presented second place winners Ted and Shirley Robson, Mary Demerchant, Shirley Holliday and third place winners Keith and Wilma VanCamp, Gary and Nancy McConnell with their prizes. Tribute was paid to our ice-maker Bob Strong for the fine quality of ice that he produced this year. Denzil Moore thanked everyone for their co-opera- tion during his term and announced the following members of the executive - Mens Pres - Cam Porter, Vice President - Ken Craw- ford, Sec-Treas - Gerald Kelly, Schedule Manager - Floyd Argue, Past Pres. - Denzil Moore, Mixed Pres - David and Kathleen Petri, Vice - Bill and Sandra Thompson; Ladies Pres - Lorna Edgerton; Schedule Manager - Marj Taylor; "Treas. - Rie Hoogeveen. Harvey Graham proposed a vote of thanks to the retiring president Denzil Moore who had so capably handled the problems which "he met during his term of office. A short film "Gone Cur- ling' was shown. The remainder of the evening was spent with dancing to the pleasant music of Murray and Lana Malcolm. The evening was a most enjoyable windup of a most successful curling season. D.
