Shortly after seven p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, a kindergarten teacher from Raglan Public School observed a very bright light descending directly down near the causeway. Sandra Bramhan was at her Simcoe Street home just south of Highway 7A when she noticed a remarkably white brightness travelling very quickly, straight downwards. She admits that it could have been either a shooting star op even.a satellite but doubts both of these ideas because of the incredible brightness. - Ms. Bramhan reported her sighting to Durham Regional Police within five or ten minutes of first noticing the strange phenomenon. A spokesman for the police said there had been no other reported sightings. 9,000 blooms sold £ . by Cancer Society § on Daffodil Day by Danielle Clark On Friday, March 30th; volunteers from the Scugog Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society posted them- Selves in various spots around Port Perry. Thanks to the citizens of Scugog Township they very quickly sold over 9,000 daffodils. Members of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority ably assisted them with sales and the contribution of a Port Perry Star advertisement. Thanks to everyone for all their help. Daffodil Day is the kick-off of a month long door-to-door fund raising campaign. You can expect to see volunteers at your door anytime. in MILL HOLLOW Spring is officially here. If you wish to work actively for your branch, just contact the President - Helen O'Reilly at 985-7201. You also have a right to know how your contribution will be spent. Because of the large numbers of active volunteers, , administration costs of the society only use 6 percent of your donation. Fund raising costs such as posters, films, Kits, etc. only use a further 5 percent. The Education Committee uses 12 percent through films, speeches, pamphlets, etc. These include films your youngsters have seen - the Celly film, the gr. 4-6 film and a new film for grades 7 & 8 coming out this fall. The patient lodges in the major centres for cancer patients are provided for by the society - here another 6 percent is spent. The Service to Patients which pays for drugs, transpor- tation, and dressings and more requires another 14 percent. And finally, the big one - Research, that takes 57 percent of your contribution. This is the area that will find the cure and someday make Cancer a thing of the past. Next week, we meet a cancer patient. Greenbank 4-H by Suzanne Saulnier Greenbank Disco Dolls held their final meeting at Mrs. McKean's house. The meeting was opened with the 4-H pledge and the reading of the minutes. We discussed our exhibit for Achievement Day - Size Up Your Shoes. We did the Accessories Crossword Puzzle and the Accessories Match Game. We closed with the 4-H motto.
