Nursing Home News The Staff of the Commun- ity Nursing Home enter- tained at a St. Patrick's Party on March 17. Many patients, residents from the villa and several guests attended. Everyone was provided with paper hats, made by the patients. There was an evening of very pleasant entertainment, followed by a delicious lunch which was prepared and served by the Staff. There are a number of organizations who entertain regularly at the Nursing Home and all this is much appreciated Everyone is very welcome to attend these events and the patients are so happy to see visitors. If you have not attended any of these enter- taining evenings or even visited the Community Nursing Home - do drop in - your visit will be greatly appreciated. Thank you staff! ELUTE EEE TT TTT CTT TTT PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, April 4, 1979 -- 19 Tight finish by Bud Heard The London Knight's eliminated the Windsor Spit- fire's in the 7th game of an-8 point series in the London Gardens. London had a 7 to 5 point lead and needed only a tie or a win to move on to the Division Finals against the winner of the Kitchener and Niagara Falls series. Windsor led 1-0 after one period and increased their lead to 3-0 in the second . period and seemed content to try and hold it at that in the third period. The Knights, throughout the game, could not get a break or score on the Wind- Midgets Continued Saturday, March 31st before a hometown crowd. The score was the most lopsided of the series as Port won by a three goal margin, 5-2. Port Perry started quick- ly, scoring on their first shot on goal 32 seconds after the opening whistle. Brad Hurst blasted a slap shot from the face-off circle past Arm- strong. He was set up by Dickson and "Thompson. Mikkelson netted one at the 11:36 mark after being stopped twice, he banged home the rebound. Then in a dramatic and thrilling finish scored two more goals at the 19:32 and 19:42 mark of the final period with their goalie (Barry Heard) on the benchs in favour of an extra attacker. Windsor with 8 seconds left in the game got a good shot - on net which was held by Heard forcing a face off in the London ead with 4 seconds left. London got the draw and killed the clock. Thus London gained the tie and a point to win. victory and Geer were given assists. The third Port goal came in the middle period when Rowan Kennedy rifled a blue line slap shot into the net. Jeffrey, who was the other defenceman on the point, and Thompson drew assists. That goal proved to be the winner. Two players who played strong games for Port Perry were Thompson and defence- man Carl Durward, and fittingly, they added in- surance goals.
