Joe South had been signed by the Eagles while he was still a member of the Queens-- University Varsity squad, and that is contrary to OHA rules. As a result of the protest, Eagles had one of their victories taken away from them and awarded to Gananoque. The next time the two teams met, Ganano- que won by a wide margin to force the deciding game in the series.
