The year ended for the Junior C's on a sour and somewhat embarassing note December 30 as the team was trampled 14 to 3 by the first place Bowmanville Eagles in front of the largest crowd of the season at the Scugog Arena. The MoJacks, coming off victories over Little Britian and the same Bowmanville club earlier in December, were obviously hoping for a home ice victory last Satur- day evening as more than 400 fans were on hand for the contest. It was not to be, however, as the Eagles hit first at the four-minute mark when John Kane deflected a shot past starting goalie Raymond Gibson. Bowmanville added three more markers by the end of the first 12 minutes, com- pletely controlling the play at both ends of the ice. It was obvious that the Eagles had come to play. ¥ Things went from bad to PORT PERRY Adults: $1.25 Bowmanvitie goalie Bob Koczulab appears to be trieve puck during game against the MoJacks last Saturday evening. The Eagles, who are devestating on the power play, went to work, and by the time the five minute major was over, had popped four more goals behind the shell-shocked Gibson in the MoJack net. By this time the MoJacks were a totally demoralized squad, as the eagles con- tinued to run up the score until it was 10-0 by the mid-point of the second period. The Eagles got another goal late in the second, and with less than a minute gone in the third Dan Strike made it an even dozen for the visitors. Greiner got his second of the night at 8:54 of the third when he took a pass from Bill Bridge, gought fought off an Eagle defender and slipped the puck home as he cut in front of the net. The play of Greiner was just about the only bright spot for the MoJacks all evening as he worked hard to score twice and set up a "third. The Bowmanville team, coasting by this time, added two more goals late in the third to complete the rout. For those who were coun- ting, Bowmanville's feisty winger Jerry Johnston did the majority of the damage, rapping in five goals and setting up a couple of others. Dan Strike and Gerald Brunt also had a. hand in the scoring and turned in strong performances for the visitors. While the Eagles domi- nated right from the opening whistle, they did score eight of their goals while' Port Perry was playing a man short. Although the turning point in the game was probably when Jobb got tossed out and Eagles humiliate MoJacks the team was left short- handed for five minutes, the Eagles were at this stage already ahead by a 4-0 count and seemed to be getting stronger as the first period progressed. Jobb, who will likely get a two-game suspension will be missed more by the MoJacks in up-coming games against Little Britain and Beaverton, teams that Port Perry must beat if they want any hope of moving out of fourth place in the standings. Despite the lop-sided loss to the Eagles last Saturday, the MoJacks have been improving as a team lately (Turn to page 15) PeeWee 2 win one tourney game by M. Wray On December 21 the Pee Wee 2 hosted an Exhibition game against Little Britain. The Stone's were victorious . with a score of 9 to 1. Jeff Wray opened the scoring for Stone in the first period. Second period goals went to Dean Haugen (2), Mark McConnell (2), Freddie Cockerton (1), Jeff Wallace (1), Jeff Wray (1), Trevor Kennedy (1), assisting on the - above goals were Clay Dempsey (2), Jeff Wray (1), Ian Dickson (2), Craig Pais- Scoring in the final game were Freddie Cockerton from Dean Haugen at 9:29 of the first period. Trevor Kennedy, from Clay Dempsey tallied the second goal. The long goal in the second period was registered by Jeff Wray from Kevin Fowler. Third period markers were Clay Dempsey assisted by Jeff Wray and Dean Haugen from Trevor Kennedy. Paul Goreski played a super game in goal - using his glove hand like a pro. On Friday December 29 the Stone's travelled to a Pee Wee 2 tournament at Elm- vale. The first game against Pelham showed the boys playing good positional hockey. It was a fast moving game and a good loss of 2-0. Steve Jackson tended goal and did a super job. The Stone's were flying for the second game against Penetang winning 6-3. Penetang opened the scoring at the 7:48 mark of the first. "Dean Haugen replied un- assisted at 5:41. The other two goals in the first period were tallied by Jeff Wray from Trevor Kennedy and Dean Haugen from Kennedy and Dickson. The lone marker in the second period was scored by Freddie Cockerton from the stick of Ian Dickson. Kevin Fowler scored an unassisted goal early in the third. Jamie Lee from Jeff Wray and Kevin Fowler scored to mark the 6th goal. 5 At 6 o'clock, 12 tired little Stone's rolled onto the ice for a game against Creemore. This proved to be a see-saw game from the beginning. Regulation time ended in a 5-5 tie. The boys played a 5 minute '"'sudden death over- time" and Creemore won when the puck deflected off a helmet and into the net. Steve Jackson, our goalie for the game played well having made super saves, catching the puck out of the air on several occasions.
