Appreciation notes were received from Allen Red- man, the family of the late Fred Pearce, Mrs. Nellie Miller, and the Lake Scugog Historical Choir. The "Head" U.C.W. will help at the Hospital Tuck relatives arrived too from other areas. Sympathy is extended to the Fred Jackson family in the sudden passing of Mrs. Jackson's mother. She had recently celebrated her 99th birthday. Tho' she spent several years in the nursing home, she always had a lovely smile for everyone and always appeared so happy and cheerful. We are very pleased to report that Mrs. Morven Hughes was able to return from hospital to her home on Friday, complete recovery of strength will require time and patience. - Mrs. Reta Wilson is getting care in her own Island home but her condition does not improve as fast as we could hope. She does enjoy chat- ting with callers. Mr. Jack Kane in the Toronto Hospital has been walking around but is still far from recovery. Mr. John Sweetman may be moved to the Oshawa hospital for difficulty in getting around, This must all be quite a strain for Mabel Sweetman and Aileen Kane. Mrs. Elsie Pogue is in the Port Perry Hospital as she became unwell on Wednes- day evening. Sunday was a beautiful day for the Kiwanis Club introduced the other atten- ding members with their wives. Most of the men took a part of the service and Mr. Harold Edwards in his very capable and quiet 'manner gave a very thought provoking message where he compared the conditions of Isaiah's day with the pre- sent. We are in a rever ending search for peace. Many of our problems arise from selfishness and mat- erialism. But it is noted that war and suffering brings out the best in men and women. We should give thanks for the sacrifices that have been made on our behalf. We should also give thanks for life and the country we live in. We believe Mr. and Mrs. Celso Raffin are both in hospital tho' we are not able to report the nature of their illness. The Christmas concert is well on its way for December 3. But more members are needed in the choir. Some early beginners seem to have found it too difficult to continue as other interests require their attention. There - is definately much talent to share on the Island if it can be persuaded. Look out Farrah! Your job is on the line. The next candidate for "Angel" is P.P.H.S.'s own sunshine girl, Steven McIntyre.
