The Christie house was built about 1845 and the picture depicts a large cooking fire-place and appro- priate furnishings from the first half of the 19th century. The home is now owned by Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Price and family. The new book, a major and authoritative study titled "The Heritage of Upper Canadian Furniture' contains more than 500 pages and has 1450 plates, 249 of them in colour. Several of the pieces of furniture illustrated in the book are from private collections in Scugog Township. Published by Van Nostrand Reinhold, the book was written by Howard Pain, a major collector of Canadian furniture for more than 20 years, and recognized today as one of the leading authorities on the subject. The author spent three years studying and photo- graphing more than 4000 pieces of furniture in eight . different countries. The book provides a unique contribution to the history and heritage of Upper Canada and is of immense value to the serious collector and novice alike. It will stand for many years as the central work on the furniture of Upper Canada, and it is on sale now. 26" Color Trak * Automatic Colour Control and Fleshtone Correction. * Automatic Contrast/Colour Tracking * Automatic Light Sensor * Super AccuFilter picture tube with tinted phosphors * Channelock electronic tuning * Reliable XtendedLife chassis * Built-in cable TV and apartment antenna connection.
