Darrin picked up two assists. Both play a tough, aggressive brand of hockey, and seem to enjoy the heavy hitting. If they continue this kind of play, they are going to make life miserable for opposition players and goalies as the season progresses. TOUGH SCHEDULE MoJacks are on the road until October 29 when the new entry from Little Britian will be the visitors at the Scugog Arena. In the mean- time the team will have its work cut out, starting with a game Monday night (Octo- ber 16) against the surpri- sing Cobourg squad who showed some power over the weekend by Whipping Bow- manville 9-4. This coming Sunday night, the MoJacks will get a shot at the Red Eagles with a game in Bowmanville. In this contest, former Port Perry defenseman John Kane will be facing some of his old team-mates. Kane, who has played several seasons with the Junior C's in Port Perry, has signed with the Bowmanville team, and was in uniform for the Red Eagles over the week- end. There is a chance that - Mike Adam, another former defenseman with the Port Perry Junior C's may also be in uniform with Bowman- ville this Sunday night. Adam is reported to have asked for his unconditional release from the Port Perry organization and apparently wants to play in Bowman- ville. In other action around the league last week, Port Hope stomped Lindsay 12-6, Stouffville beat the same team 6-5, Uxbridge beat Stouffville 5-2, Cobourg whipped Beaverton 9-6 and Bowmanville 9-4, and Port Hope demolished Little Britain by a 9-3 margin. The scores early in the season indicate that Cobourg may be the team to beat, while Lindsay which looked strong October 8 against Port Perry dropped two games in the past week. a Juniors trounced Seniors tie by Danny Millar The Port Perry Junior Redmen travelled to Done- van Collegiate on Tuesday, October 10th to play the Donevan juniors in a football game. Perhaps they should have stayed home. They lost 42 to 0. Trouble came early as Port Perry fumbled the ball away on their first offensive series of the game. It was the first of three turnovers of the day. Fullback Brad Greentree scored his first of three touchdowns, on the very next play. He also scored the two-point convert as Donevan took a quick 8-0 lead. Greentree scored his second touchdown of the first 'quarter as his team forged to a 16-0 lead. Port Perry's single bright spot came on a fumble recovery by defen- sive end John Wynsma on the Donevan twenty-five yard line. The Redmen failed to score as the quarter ended with a 16-0 lead for the home team. Donevan' added another eight points on a touchdown and a two point convert in the second quarter. Port trailed at the half by twenty- four points. The porous Port defense blanked the powerful Done- van offense in the third quarter but fell apart in the final frame as Running Back Dave Hoffman scored two of three Donevan majors. The Juniors have two games remaining and there is still an outside chance at a playoff berth. "Two wins could put us in there," said Bruce Brandon, who handles the team's offence, but he didn't sound very hopeful. Brandon did praise the play of Rob Cook and Quar- terback Mike Barton. SENIORS TIE On Wednesday, October 11th the Senior team played to an exciting 9-9 tie at Dunbarton against the Spar- tans. The Redmen got on the board quickly as Quarter- back Gord Simmonds - hit Greg Fedyk for a six-pointer on the first offensive series of the game. Simmonds then scored the two point conver- sion. Dunbarton quickly evened the score as Robert Stanfield scored on a reverse from the nineteen yard line. The score stood tied at eight at the end of the first quarter. The rest of the game be- came a tight defensive struggle. There was no scoring in the second as two consecutive roughing penal- ties put the Redmen deep in their own end. To add to the troubles Gord Simmonds was sacked twice. Line- backer Paul Jones and Greg Griffen played excellent, tough defense throughout the game. The second and third 'quarters were penalty filled periods as play became very chippy. Frank Norman was disqualified from the game for throwing a punch in the third. This action prompted the referee to warn both benches that if any further punches were thrown it *® would result in automatic disqualification. Port Perry finished the game with nine penalties. In the third quarter the Spartans took the lead on a single point. The score remained at 9-8 until late in the game. With less than a minute to go in the contest, an attempted Gord Sim- monds field goal was missed,' but was conceded for a single point to even the score at nine, where it stayed until the game's end.
