That's the message a five- man delegation from Dur- ham Region will be taking to an October 19 meeting in Lindsay at which the new conservation area will be set up. ® That delegation will be made up of Scugog Mayor. Lawrence Malcolm and councillors Reg Rose and Vern Asselstine. One rep from Brock Township and Newcastle will also be at the meeting as the proposal for the conservation authority is ¥to include small portions of ¢ those two municipalities. The issue came up at the October 4 meeting of Dur- ham council as members unanimously supported a motion by Mayor Malcolm that Scugog not be included in the Kawartha Conserva- tion Authority. Mayor Malcolm said that part of the reasons for his objections stem from the cost of being in that author- ity, but more important in his opinion, would be the loss of control over these costs. Food for Thought by the Hillier's Stir now and then when chilling any gelatin mix- ture. It keeps the sides from jelling faster than the centre. If you want to serve spare ribs as an appetizer, have the butcher saw the rack in half the long way. Cut pastry scraps into leaves, ribbons, and flowers, and press onto pie crust (use cold water as glue). Mark veins and petals with dull side of a knife. " Chicken salad with an Oriental touch is lighter and more delicate. Add bamboo shoots and scallions to shredded sauce, vinegar and » vegetable oil, salt and pepper to taste. Toss with snow pea pods. Potatoes were once used as currency in parts of Poland after World War I. Seems the value of the potato was more stable - than paper money if the post-war upset. He said the administration of the Kawartha Authority will likely be out of Lindsay, and suggested that Scugog could end up with little or no say in the decision-making process The proposed Kawartha Authority would include about 85 per cent of the Township, along with such communities as Lindsay, Fenelon Falls, Bobcaygeon and nortions of a dozen other townships to the east of Scugog. . In-addition to the fact that Scugog could end up with tion and decision-making process, the Township would be asked to contribute $228 of the $1000 that would come directly from all the munici- palities within the Authority, based on assessment. That $228 would be the highest contribution of any of the municipalities within the proposed authority. A special item on the pro- gram was a film shown by Constable Steve Mowat on Safety for the home against break-ins, for the purpose of robbery or other crimes. Following this there was a question period involving several aspects of law.
