The possibility of full municipal - services (sewer and water) for Blackstock was discussed. Although Scgog Mayor Lawrence ®1alcolm said that a feasi- bility study on the full ser- vicing issue could be done quickly and easily, the cost of actually constructing the services would be enormous, and thus it is unlikely that sewer and water will come-to- Blackstock in the forseeable future. Mayor Malcolm added that the present Scugog council generally feels that growth in. the Township hamlets should be slow, in any event. CAESAREA PLAN A similar recommendation of "slow growth" was made for Caesarea, where there are now about 500 permanent residents and 800 seasonal residents. ; Planner Valerie Cranmer told the meeting that tests indicate there -is soil pol- lution in some areas of the -community, especially the older section where the lots are small and houses and cottages are close together. While the development plan does allow for some in-filling of registered lots, the recom- mendations suggest that this be limited because of a potential shortage of well » water supplies. Most people in attendance at the meeting agreed with the recommendation of 23 new development lots on five parcels of land, but the size several people. They indicated that half- acre lots, rather than the three-quarter to one acre size, would be more suitable, especially for retired people who might find it difficult maintaining a large lot of one acre. One gentleman also pointed out that the price of a one acre lot could be pushed as high as $30,000, which would be out of reach Industry director quits job Citing workload and health ~ reasons, Durham Region di- . rector of industrial develop- { ment, Bob Nicol, has resign- ° . ed his position but will stay on with the department as an industrial land salesman.
