Several friends and relatives at- tended his party. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hug- gins of Orillia, Mr. and Mrs. ohn Moore of Oshawa were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Jeffery. Mr. and Mrs. Fluery of Pontypool were guests of her sister, Mrs. John Hansen and Mr. Hansen on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Mulholland also visited the Hansen on Sun- day afternoon. & We hope Mr. N. Tapscott, 4 Mr. B. Bailey and Mrs. Hildreth Lyons are soon feel- ing much better after recent illness. A week ago Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Norman Tapscott entertained the Thomas family from Markham, Stouffville area at their cottage on Cameron Lake near Fenelon Falls. Jimmy Powell is enter- taining his friend Laurie King of Toronto for a week's holiday. } It was the most beautiful Saturday evening of the summer. The Barbecue at the Church was well at- tended. It was so nice to see and visit with our friends for an hour, made more plea- sant by the lovely music by Miss Dorothy Keyzers. Thankyou so much Dorothy. Thank you too Ross. We did appreciate every little bit of help received, those who made the pies, cut the beef every little bit counted. Several very young men carried pie from the pantry to the serving area and saved many steps. We thank you all. The afghans were donated by Mrs. Jean Nee- son. This was Jean's last afghan which she was mak- ing for us. The other donated by Pat Cracknell and Marie Newell. Our sincere thanks. We were so happy to see Mr. and Mrs. Peter Emming and Katy home from Jamai- ca and looking so well. Tessa's mother from Eng- land is visiting them from- England. Good also to welcome Barry Bushell home from Saudi Arabia where he is working for Ma Bell. He will return on Saturday and his wife Lois will be accompany- ing him. Their daughters Lorri and Linda and their friend Kim Brown will be " sharing an apartment in Port Perry. Don Asling won the wood splitting contest, Bruce Houghland and Don Asling came in second-in the wood sawing and Bruce won a first in the sheaf tying at the Quaker Hill Steam festival on Sunday. On Sunday Mrs. Leon Lefebvre accompanied Mrs. Don Moffat on a visit to Toronto Ex. U.C.W. will be Tuesday, September 12 at 8 p.m. at Epsom. Group 2 in charge. 'Sunday School will re-open September 10th at 10:15. Church will resume the regular hour of 11:30. Recent callers, at the Howard Ashton home were Miss Beverly Simmonds, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Anderson. Happy Birthday Septem- ber 28th to Jeffrey Potter. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wil- son, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Wilson and Michael enjoyed the weekend at family camp at Omemee. There is a regular count of about 100 but on Sunday 148 sat down to dinner. The Epsom Soccer team played Uxbridge in the finals Saturday at St. John's School and Uxbridge won in over- time play. Congratulations to our boys. They did well. Tracy Watson was over- night guest of Julie Ashton . and accompanied the Ash- tons to the Museum and Steam Show at Quaker Hill on Sunday. Epsom Sports Day was a great success and loads of fun. If you were a doer or a, watcher there was much interest in the Horseshoe pitching, frisbee throwing, sack races, shoe kick- and soccer relay demonstration. Rev. Cliff Pendlebury was the winner of the obstacle race - time 9 seconds. Log sawing was won by Don Asling and Bruce Houghland - 14 seconds for the Men and Sue Albers and Joanne Ruhl won for the ladies - time 37. seconds. Bale throwing Bruce Houghland for the Men and Liz Dart for the Ladies. Sue Albers won in the over all points for the ladies. Norman Gourlie won in over all points for the gentlemen.
