First and Second Place winners will go to the International Plowing Match in Septem- ber. The Rodeo include four counties; Durham, Peter- borough, Victoria, and Nor- thumberland. 1st Place - Bob Stone of Ontario County, 2nd Place - Ralph Stockdale of Peterborough and 3rd Place - Steve Barrie of Bowmanville in Durham County. At 3:00 the Champion Chocolate cake, baked by Trisha Sleep, Cartwright Heart Queen, was auctioned by Harvey Graham and sold to Bryce Philp of Philp Motors in Port Perry for $50.00. The Royal Bank Trophy was presented. to Black- stock's own Janice Crawford for obtaining the most points in the Baking Class. Lynda Maw was runner-up and received a Loblaw's Gift booklet. Alice Turcotte of Blackstock earned the special prize for the most points in the Canning sec- tion. Marilyn Bailey was awarded special prizes for, both the vegetable and the Flower section. June Petch won the prize for most points in the sewing with Valerie Taylor - runner up. Crafts award went to Mrs. Keeler of Stouffville. An extra sewing award was given to Mrs. M. Perzel. Top prize winner in the grains was John Carnag- han. Junior Section winners 1st place - Julie Ryers and 2nd place Esther Kelly. 10 years and under - Joy Werry took first place and a three way tie for second - Tara Lynn, Glenn De Geer and Peter Cook. under - 1st place - Gayla Taylor and 2nd place to Karen Duivesteyn. The Boys - 1st place - Howard Bailey and 2nd place to Russell Cornell. The Parade of Cattle Winners and Presentation of Trophy to Peter Hoogeveen for the Best Dairy Herd took place in front of the Grand- stand. Winners of the Doug Wherry Trophies for Cham- pion Holstein and Guernsey Cows were Peter Hoogeveen and Harvey Graham, re- spectively. Competition was straining during the Media Cow Milk- ing Contest, but Arnie Celsie of C.K.L.B. won by a squirt or two, milking against 'Peter Head, C.F.R.B., Anton Volk. President of D.S. Park, and special last minute re- placement, Alan Lawrence. Mutt Show winners were 1st Place - Danny Irvine and 2nd Place Nicky Churchill. The Frog belonging to Micheal Baumchen jumped an unbelievable 96 inches to win the frog Jumping Con- test. The Spagetti eating contest (contrary to the popular opinion is how fast not how much) was won by Beth Schryburt with Barb Byers taking second position in the Ladies and Brian Mikkelsen - 1st Place, Doug Cooke - 2nd in the Men's competition. Bob Swain took time out from the Judges Stand to push Cheryl Wright to Victory in the wheel- barrow races, with Beth and Caryl Stimson of Michigan coming in 2nd place. Po was a dunk-em tank, in support of Blackstock Broomball club, where even yours truly was 'all wet'. All children and most adults were thrilled with the baby animal display at the end of the ice arena. There were also numerous com- mercial concessions in and outside the arena. Towards the back of the field the clink of Horseshoes could be heard as 14 teams competed. The prize win- ners were: 1st - Harold and Roy McLaughlin, 2nd - Bill Vanderburg of Scarborough and John Rowe of Peter- borough, 3rd - Walt Pascoe of Port Perry with Orville Atkinson of Whitby, 4th - brothers, Bob and Stew Smoke of Alderville and 5th - Bill Vanderburg Jr. and George Patterson of Scar- borough. The back of the Fair Grounds exhibited many fine specimen of livestock shown for the Durham County 4-H Achievement Day including swine, sheep and beef. Light and Heavy horses competed on the track and Western and English riding horses performed near the Judges Stand. Tired, but enlightened the members of the Blackstock Agricultural Society once again realized a successful Fair Day.
