Firemen from Bowman- ville and Newcastle were on the scene until early Monday morning fighting the blaze which sent huge clouds of thick black smoke into the air. The fire was described by one long time resident as the worst in recent history for the community, with the interior completely . gutted and the roof caved in. One fireman was taken to hospital with minor injuries after he was struck by a falling beam.
