Marlo is among the first place winners who will be receiving their awards from the House of Thomas for their outstanding placings in the festival. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael and Maria Guido of Seagrave and plays the organ at the Immaculate Conception Church in Port Perry every Sunday. Heis a student of Mrs. Florence Beacock, Port Perry. Miriam G. Christie, daugh- ter of Dr. and Mrs. Donald Christie, graduated from Queen's University, King- ston, Ontario with a degree of Bachelor of Commerce with honours at their Spring Convocation. Miriam has accepted a position with General Motors of Canada. Marie Lynn Van Camp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Van Camp of Black- stock, graduated on Tues- day, June 6th, 1978 from The University of Western Ont- ario with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secretarial and Administrative Studies. Durham Region Family YMCA is introducing a French Immersion Day Camp for the summer months and children be- tween the ages of five and fifteen will be able to parti- cipate. The purpose of the immer- sion program is to help deve- lop a greater knowledge of pleasant atmosphere and "will include hiking, outdoor education, cookouts, nature crafts, overnights and swim- ming activities. All com- munication during the camp session will be in French and the children will be instruc- ted by well-qualified bilin- gual staff. "Camp Francais' will run from Monday to Friday for two week sessions through- out the summer, with four sessions available starting on July 13. The camp will be held at Heber Down Conservation Area, and registration forms are available at local public schools. For the younger tots, a Play Camp designed from boys and girls aged 4 and 5 will be held during the month of August only. There will be two sessions in the afternoon and activities will include interest centres, stories, songs, and much more. All of these activites will be = conducted in French as well - as "Camp Francais."
