Blackstock Senior Citi- zen's weekly card party hosted nineteen tables on Tuesday' evening. The win- ners were 1-Aylmer Ploughman-81, 2-Edith Anderson-80, 3-Elwood Tripp -80, 4-Carl Gimblette-79, 5- Ethel . Cook-79, 6:Marjorie Bayford-77, and low-Maxine Brock. Wednesday, June 7th, the Blackstock Nursery School took a bus trip to the Bow- manville Zoo. There were twenty-nine adults, forty five children and 5 babies atten- ding the closing of the school year function. The bus trip realized a profit of eleven dollars and the bakesale on Saturday at Mary Mackie's Neighbourhood Yardsale increased Nursery School assets by over $105.00. The future Community Play- ground Centre to be near the Recreational Centre gets closer with each dollar earned! Thursday, June 8th, at 1:00, the Cartwright High School held assembly in the lab for the purpose of offi- cially donating the money earned for the Cancer So- ciety. Mrs. Dorris Taylor, of Port Perry, representative for the entire Scugog Area Cancer Society, was present PAVING to receive the cheque for $200. Students participating in the dance-a-thon were awarded prizes for their endurance. Special prizes were awarded to Marlene Parsons, earning $124.79, and Jane Davies, earning $71.43. Marie Van 'Camp, daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Van Camp, graduated from Western Ontario University "in London on Tuesday eve- ning, June 6th, with a B.A. in Secretarial and Administra- tive Studies. Marie's par- ents and sister Valerie, Aunt Aileen Van Camp and grand- parents, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Van Camp, attended the ceremonies after which they enjoyed a delightful meal at 'The Garage' in London. Sharon Essery conducted the Evening Unit U.C.W. meeting on June 7th due to the fact the unit leader's daughter, Jennifer Lee, had just come home that mor- ning from the Port Perry Hospital where she had her tonsils removed. Only eight attended the meeting, but it was a very interesting group. Margaret Kemp pre- sented the devotional, based on Jeremiah 29,10-14, direc- ting the girls to find God everywhere, but especially in your own heart. Special items of business were dis- cussed, the Tractor Pull Con- cession, to be held on July 15th is in need of more volunteers. Program for the evening was a slide presen- tation by Aileen Van Camp, Barry VanCamp presented a cheque last week to Mrs. Leo Taylor, Scugog area Cancer Society Cam- paign Chairman. The $200 was raised by students at entitled, "Nature, Here, There and Everywhere." The slides took the unit on a fast and scenic route, touch- ing on Hawalif;" British Col- umbia, Florida, Europe, British Isles and even Scan- dinavia. Hobbs previously scheduled for their meeting was unable to attend. The group that ga- thered at the Parish Hall was pleased to find that Mrs. Norma Wolfe had been cal- led upon to present slides of Ireland. The evening was enjoyed with a short busi- ness meeting following the delightful slides. The plan- ning of the annual Spring Supper was double checked and a short talk about the July wedding they will be catering. The meeting was closed with a group effort to set up tables and chairs for Saturday night. Michael Andrews celebra- ted his seventh birthday on Saturday afternoon with a houseful of 'special guests', friends; Scott Fletcher, Francis Grove, Julie Byers, Jeff Bedome, Chris McCon- nell, Adam Danter, and Ray Wallace. Also enjoying the party were cousins, Cathe- rine, and Jamie Hunter of Whitby and Jennifer and Andrew Lowe of Ajax, Michael's brothers Ian and David. Saturday June 10th was' the night of the Annual Angli- can Spring Supper. Thank you to all of those in the Community that attended. Several fathers at the supper won plants donated by Tur- ner"s Greenhouse. Sunday at 11:00, the Black- stock United Church held Sunday School Anniversary. Don Genge, the Administra- tor of Camp Quin-Mo-Lac told delightful stories to help express the thought that to toberealis to be loved.
