BOOSTERS NIGHT Hugh Sims captures golf trophy Saturday, May 27th the 2nd Annual Reo. Irvine Golf Tournament sponsored by B.P. Oil was held at Crest- wood Golf Club. Winner of the trophy was Hugh Sims with a score of 67. Other net prize winners were Roger Chamberlain, Gord Budd, Don Phillips, Bruce Fairman, Gerve Huestis, Brian Crawford, Frank Chick, Bob Newton. Low gross winners were Steve Baric 74, Bill Shill 75, Gord Rodd 77. Closest to the pin winners were Bruce Fairman and Paul Siddle. Longest drive winner was Steve Baric. Minor Softball PEE WEE'S WIN THREE OUT OF FOUR Grant Menzies Motors Pee Wee's have won three out of their four league games this year. In their first game they were defeated by a powerful Claremont team 14 to 4. In their next three games they beat Uxbridge 20 to 4, West Shore 11 to 9 and Greenwood 44 to4. The team is improving with every game. Home game night is Monday at 6:30 at the lake park. Come out and support this team. PEE WEE GIRLS NEED COACHES The Pee Wee Girls Section of the Minor Softball have been playing each Tuesday night at the Lakefront Park. These girls are ages 8 to 11 years. There are two teams made up at present and they have a short training session each night before having a game. If anyone wishes to work with these girls, show up at the Lakefront on Tues- day night. BANTAM GIRLS LEAGUE The local Bantam Girls League was set up last week and seven teams are ready to go. This year will see four Port Perry teams, Green- bank, Pleasant Point and = EE TTT Soccer action, Pee Wee: A commanding lead for Port Perry Purples over Uxbridge Green in their first scheduled game of the season last Monday at home. During the first half Ken Huggins scored the first goal with the second taken by Bob Huggins followed shortly with a third by Tim Boume- ester. During the second half Frank Dooley had a hat trick. Final score was 6 to 0 for Port. Epsom Girls Utica Gene- "ral Store Bluebirds played the Epsom Boys in Ux- bridge. Boys took the game 14 to 0. Keep trying girls. Mosquito: Stedmans Red Devils played away against Blackstock United. There was continuous action during the whole 60 minutes of play. Blackstock came on strong in the first half with two goals. Then Stedmans Red Devils scored on a penalty shot, taken by Allard Flim. An equaliser in the second half was scored by Paul Bateman, with an assist by Ronald Rienstra. Final score was 2 to 2 tie. Atom: The weather last Wednesday did not dampen the enthusiasm of the Port Cleaner Phantoms who pla- yed against the Port Perry Golden Eagles. Lots of slipping and sliding until the first goal scored by Golden Eagle Andy Sytsma. In the second 30 minutes of the game Andy scored again with an assist by Adam Nicholishem. In the last three minutes of play Eagle Barry Willerton slid one past the goalie. The Port Clea- ner Phantoms in spite of the score were by no means out of this game. With a growing defence and outstanding play by such players as Raymond Daniels, Jamie Goodwood compete for the Dr. Dymond Trophy. League play will start on Monday, June 19 with Green- bank in Goodwood. The Uxbridge Red Barons started the scoring with a goal by Orange Bomber David Irvine with an assist by Jon Rodway. During the second 25 minutes Red Barons scor- ed their third goal very quickly followed by a score from Orange Bomber Joey Jackman. Still applying the pressure the Red Barons scored their fourth goal. Full of persistance Bomber David Irvine shot home his final goal from a breakaway. Final score was 4 to 3 for Uxbridge Red Barons. ®n excellent game by both teams.
