' i = by Bethany Schryburt On Wednesday, April 5th, grade 7 and 8 students and many students in grades 4, 5 and 6 at Cartwright Cen- tral waited patiently as the over 200 individual entries in the Science Fair were judged. The three judges, as w ingenui ty at ight P.S. Science Fair Lewerentz and Lynn Mec- Laughlin. ..Conservation and Ecology first - Brian Gardner and Andy Postma - the display not only contained sufficient information on their. subject they had also built a scale model of a futuristic wind and stood by the display handing out typed quota- tions on the subject of con- servation. Second prize went to Cindy Wilson. Junior Division: first - Lynn McLaughlin, second - Heather Locke with Eleanor Kelly, 3rd - Laura Gardner and honourable mention - Earth and Space Science: First and second prizes were not awarded in this category as the judges felt that none warranted super- ior achievement. 3rd - Roger Gould with Steven Frey and honourable men- tion - Randy Bartley, Judy N T.. In staying with the April- Caribbean Theme- Mrs. Romeril, the guest speaker for the evening, showed slides that she had taken in the Caribbean both from the 1940's when they were missionaries on the Islands and later in 1974 during # their return trip. Many - unique and interesting things were discovered about the culture and the people. Mrs. Romeril ended her presentation with the 1 0% - Henry Wolters, a grade 7 student demonstrates how the antique butterfat tester works. Henry also made the butter churn in the display.
