os No luck for Novice Friday, March the - 17th, saw the Mersco take pn Stouffville at the arena for a game...the luck of the Irish did not smile on us that night as we went down to an 8 to 1 defeat. It must be said that the team from Stouffville was a fast, excel- lent skating and hard check- * ing well organized group of youngsters and the boys in orange just could not rise to the occasion. Scoring Ports only goal of the game was Steve Durham, unassisted. Friday is the Port Perry Novice Tournament in the New Arena. This should be a fun filled day 'of Novice hockey and we invite every- one to come and cheer the boys along. Some tips on proper Snowmobile care Excellent snowmobiling weather this season has re- sulted in the running of machines at several times their normal rate of oper- ation. The Ontario Safety League points out that under such conditions snowmobiles require more frequent raip- tenance for safe and trouble- free riding. The potential for accidents and down-time on trails is greatly increased if service routines are not done regularly. The parts of your sled that are most likely to have been subjected to the greatest wear are the steering assem- bly, drive belt, spark plugs, wear rods, fan belt, brake faces and exhaust system. Depending on how and where you use your snowmobile, track tension and alignment, electrical circuits and engine mounts should receive attention. You can do much of the work yourself but if there are major repairs, you will save time, expense and frust- ration by consulting your dealer. Keep your Owner's Manual handy for reference. When tightening engine head, engine mount and ski- spindle nuts make sure that recommended torque-pres- sures are used. A good record of perform- ance has been set this year in the reduction of accidents and the Ontario Safety League reminds you to keep operating safely.
