MIDGET HOUSE LEAGUE I.G.A. vs Purple Hill In the first period Ray- mond Bright got the only goal which was in favour of I.G.A. However into the second period Dwyane Freeman and Gord Carrier each got one goal for 1.G.A. Purple Hill came back with John Spears and Karl Dur- wood each getting a goal and Greg Carrier coming up with two assists and Steve Johnstone with a single. Purple Hill made a good come back in the third period with Brian Barr, John Spears - and Greg ~ Carrier getting one goal each. John Spears and John Treen each got an assist. Ballard vs Carl's Butcher In the first period Rick Wallace got the only goal which was assisted by Dave Milton. This put Ballard up one.. On into the second three goals. Flamingos score 25 goals in two games Lindsay, Uxbridge no match Port Perry Flamingos continue to display a potent scoring attack with two lop- sided victories in Junior "C" hockey action last week. With just four games re- maining in the regular schedule, the two wins give Flamingos 42 points and keeps them in the running with Stouffville for second place. On Friday night in Lind- say, an under-manned Port Perry squad bounced the Gerald Lee, Rob Morris and Peter Johnstone each gett- ing one. Wade Osterman got the only goal for Ballard in the second period which was assisted by Ted Watts. In the third period Ballard got one goal which was scored by Mike Janik and assisted by Dave Milton. Sunday night at home to Uxbridge, the Flamingos spotted the opposition two first period goals and then unleashed the shooters to skate to an easy 11-4 win. Christie again provided the scoring punch with three goals and an assist. Keith Holten also had a good night on the scoresheet with two goals and three assists. Defenseman Rob Evans notched two and set up a third. SURPRISE The game scheduled in Lindsay Friday night had been cancelled by Port Perry because of the bad driving conditions. How- ever, late in the day, the league convenor ordered " that the game take place. The result was that Port Perry iced only 12 players including two goalies. Fla- mingos fired 58 shots af t Lindsay goal, while Beer in net for Flamingos handled 36 sho Lind took an early 2-0 J | Flamingos went ahead" 3-2 by the end of -the opening period. A six-goal outburst in the second and five more in the final period proved to be more, than the Muskies could handle. Trent Mood picked up a hat trick in the Lindsay game, and Stu Cochrane and Phil Cochrane both scored two goals. Team scoring leader, Brad Nicholson, added to his totals with five assists and a - goal. On Sunday night against Uxbridge, many of the fans were not yet in their seats 'before Uxbridge popped one ~ past goalie Charlie Durward at 12 second mark. A goal four minutes later by Uxbridge forward Randy Foote put Flamingos behind by two, and it looked as if there could be an upset in the making. It was short- Evans scored at the 5:31 mark. Dave Nicholson evened the match exactly two minutes later when he moved in alone, shifted to his right and flipped an easy shot in the gaping net. Goals by Holten, Evans and Brad Nicholson gave Fla- mingos a 5-3 lead after 20 minutes, and three in the second period and three in the final period put the game out of reach. After the slow start in the first - period, Flamingos sharpened their skating and passing, and enjoyed a wide margin of play for the remainder of the game. The game was a fairly tame affair with five minors to the Flamingos and four to Uxbridge. There was one scrap late in the second period as Flamingos' Brad 'Nicholson out-siugged Mike Barton, and both got fight- ing majors for their trou- bles. Uxbridge defenseman Rob Ashenhurst got the 'heave-ho in the first périod * for swearing at the réferee, . . and he'll likely sit out .the Adults $1.25 OH A. Ir. Charlie -Durward wasn't too busy in the nets for Port Perry. A good number of the Uxbridge shots came from well out, and didn't" give Durward much trouble. Defenseman Len Thorn- bury played a solid two-way game for the Flamingos, breaking up the Uxbridge attack and lugging the puck 'out of his own end on several occasions. Bill Owen also played heads-up hockey along the blue line as did John Kane and cap- tain Steve Jones: Early in the second period, Owen was instrumental in setting up a goal by Holten when he made a diving play at the Uxbridge blue-line to tip the puck Evans who got away a shot. Holten pounced on the rebound. Next home game for Fla- mingos is Sunday night against Port Hope, but the match which could well decide second place is slated for February 9 when Port Perry visits'Stouffville. Children 50c.
