Rushing shoppers, bows, cards, paper, green trees and white snow or white trees and green spow and happiness are the order of the season. A month's pre- paration for one very special day - Christmas! Amid all this hustling and bustling C.H.S. is still trying to keep up with the fast pace. The school day of this year, Thursday will be our day of Christmas celebration. In the morning the Students' Council will be showing the film "Charade" - an Alfred Hitchcock thriller. one remember your popcorn and 50 cents for admission. (Hopefully this year they won't send us all the same reels!) Each class is res- ponsible for one part of our rot luck lunch. The dinner party will consist of the students, the teaching staff, honorary guests and any alumni who wish to attend the feast. If the meal settles nicely without any major casualties the program will progress with the afternoon entertain- ment -- where almost any- thing is allowed. This year instead of the student exchanging gifts, a majority of the students have decided to support MacDonald's in their quest 'to help the less fortunate children this Christmas. In the past week the Grade 10 English class all settled down to write their annual letters to Santa Claus. It was fun and worth lots of laughs - a real scream according to the report from the Grade 11 History class next door. Good Luck with the letters; and I hope all your wishes come trae. (Don't forget to leave milk and cookes!!!) This Wednesday evening the Students at Cartwright High will be bundling up warm for the whole town as we go a wassling under the direction of Mr. Ashton. (Unfortunately Janet won't be able to bring the piano for accompaniment!) We hope when we come caroling at your door you will give us a warm response and come to Prince Albert news Continued Mrs. C. Andrews, Miss Julie Reed and their classes de- serve compliments concern- ing the variety, number of recitations, chorus, skits etc. Outstanding was the school choir along with Mrs. Pere- man's vocal solo accompan- ied by Mrs. Hunter who did "just" for all musical selec- tions. I'm sure all agree the last item, "Good Night God" was touchingly rendered by 35 primary age children. At the conclusion who should pop in but that well preserved character, jolly Santa Claus who distributed gifts and treats from the gaily trimm- 1 ed tree. Anyway the entire pro- gramme radiated ingred- ients of yuletide spirit. We offer our condolence to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gould- ing over the passing of his brother. Mr. Walter Webb, Halibur- ton, has been visiting folk in Uxbridge and Hunter and Smith relatives. Thursday evening Mr. and Mrs. Les Beacock enjoyed attending the S.S. The Midget basketball team will host their first home game Tuesday, Dec- ember 20 at the Public Spectators will be allowed and the game commences at 3:30. Also Tuesday after school, six students will have successfully completed their Driver Education course which was offered this first semester at Port Perry High. The Volleyball House League Playoffs have begun but no final results have yet been established. The mistletoe has been hanging in the hall for the past week now; some have approached and left it smil- ing, others think it is fake and will only snake hands, and still others knowing it is poisonous to consume must feel that it is contagious for. they have not approached it at all! (But then there is the possibility, they are just shy!!) Ten days and 1977 will go down in history. It has been a long, short year which has 'PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, Dec. 21, 1977 -- 7 dragged out very quickly. 1 hope you made the best of it.
