Julie Midgley, Grade 6, Greenbank P.S J CHRISTMAS FUN The Christmas spirit was in the air, With people running here and there. Under the tree the gifts all lay, Waiting to be opened on Christmas Day. As I shook the packages they squeaked and squealed, I hoped they'd bought me a snowmobile. I came down the stairs and opened my eyes, There was a snowmobile - what a surprise! I drove it around all that day, What fun it was to go past that sleigh. Kelly Newlove, Grade 7, C.C.P.S. VAN CAMP CHRISTMAS EVE It was the night before Christmas and my sister and I went tobogganing near the woods. I went down on sled and went right into the woods where my mom and dad told me not to go. I hit my head on the ground and I was out for a few seconds. When I woke up I was sitting on a log in a cage with a man and a woman. The man said, "I am Mr. Smith and this is my wife." They had gone for a walk and slid on something and that's how they got here. Just then a little man with a black hat came in and said, "I am Santa Claus's cousin, Gorge, and I hate Christ- mas." Then he walked out shut the door and said that he was going to keep us there until Christmas was over. He came back in a moment and laughed at us. Suddenly he grabbed me and started to put me on sled. My sister was there and she pulled me out of the woods. She said I had hit my head on the ground and~was out for 15 minutes. Then she took, me home. Whe I woke in the morning there were presents galour and I was so happy and glad Gorge did not really catch me. Judy Brinkman Grade 6 AMELIA"S BEST CHRISTMAS It was December, 1972, when all was asleep in the home of Jackson and June Weatherton and Amelia. Amelia's parents were asleep, but Amelia was awake, thinking about all the 'Christmas cards, presents, and best of all, the Saviour who was born one thousand, nine hundred and seventy- two years ago. Finally, she fell asleep. She awoke at seven-thirty. Quickly she put on her robe, and ran to her parents' room. Together they went downstairs and opened the presents. Amelia got a teddy bear, slippers, socks and a long dress. She was so excited, one more present was left for her to open. What was in it? It couldn't be what she'd always wanted, except thin to be a puppy. She opened it. It was exactly what she'd wanted, except this was only the registration papers. On the 28th she would get her puppy. How happy she was! This was the best Christmasshe ever had. Iris Nimz, Grade 6, Greenbank P.S. WHAT HAPPENED AT CHRISTMAS One evening, we had a bright fire lit. That night was a very special night. It _was Christmas_Eve._ We hung up our stockings and went to bed. The next morn- ing when we got up we weren't allowd to open our presents until 11:00. We decided to eat our candy from our stockings. When we came out of the bedroom, it was 5 minutes to 11. We sat down and got very curious. That five minutes seemed like five years. Everybody was full of joy. Finally, we got to open our presents. We had lots of fun opening our gifts. Then we cleaned up the wrapping paper. Nancy Nippard, Grade 5, R. H. Cornish P.S. WHAT CHRISTMAS MEANS TO ME... Kelvin Gibson, Grade 6, Greenbank P.S. WHAT CHRISTMAS MEANS TO ME... Christmas means to me, getting presents and singing carols. But Christmas is not only getting presents and singing carols. It is a time to celebrate when our God sent his only Son in a human form and 33 years later, He died on the cross for your sins and mine. We. remember when three wise men came from other lands to give Jesus gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. We give pre- sents to each other to com- memorate this event. This is what Christmas means to me. - oo Patrick Bertrand, Grade 6, Greenbank P.s. . LISS p I; ass 7 LY OVER PRR HS Me ORE \ CHRISTMAS MORNING DREAM One Christmas morning I went downstairs. There was no Christmas presents around the tree. I _.went upstairs and told my mom. Mom came down and saw it for herself. We went looking for the presents. We walked up mountains and we walked all over, until we came to a cave. I went in and so did my mom. Someone grabbed mom and someone grabbed me. They tied mom and me up. I tried to get away but I couldn't. Soon the men who caught us went away. We saw the presents in the cor- ner of the cave. I remem- bered I had my knife so I freed myself and my mom. After I got all the presents we started to run until I fell down. Then I woke up to find it was just a dream. I went downstairs to see if the pre- sents were there. They certainly were.
