Epsom Sunday School Concert will be held in the Church on Friday, Dec. 16 at 7:30, everyone welcome. Several from Epsom attended the Induction Service for the Rev. Clifford Pendlebury at Goodwood on Sunday evening. The Rev. Ella Taylor conducted the service. One of Cliffords" Professors, the Rev. S. Vernon Fawcett of Toronto delivered the message and Cliff conducted the Benedic- tion. 4-H Achievement Day is next Saturday at Uxbridge United Church at 1:15. The Epsom Couples Club enjoyed the Scugog Choral Society presentation of "The Merry Widow' Friday evening. Afterwards they held a social hour at Epsom Church. The hosts "and hostesses for the evening were Ron and Lorraine Brown and co-hosts Peter and Tessa Emmings. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kerry and family visited Mr. and Mrs. Bill Sturman and Christopher at Ingersol. Rev. Roy and Mrs. Ingles former minister at Ballan- trae called on Mr. and Mrs. Archie Watson one day last week. 'Recently the family = of Mrs. Hildrette Lyons all came home to help mother celebrate her birthday. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Goslin on their 35th wedding anniver- sary on Saturday last week. The family all 'met at Emjles in Port Perry and treated mother and father Obituary Wm. Goslin to dinner then the family enjoyed the evening dancing at Cedar Beach, Mussel- mans Lake. Last Sunday Mr. and Mrs. were dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Goslin, Tony and Annette. 1 Our sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Ellin and, family in their bereavement for her mother Mrs. Judgins of Kingston who passed away last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Powell, Debbie, Jimmy and Danny entertained the Ewen family on Saturday evening. It was Elinor's mothers birthday. Mr and Mrs. John Arbuc- kle and Jennifer of Nestleton had as guests, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Goslin when they attended the Tur- key Supper at Sonya Wed- nesday evening. Melvyn Cannon Cannon, Melvyn Douglas After an illness of a few months, Melvyn Douglas Cannon, 45 Caleb Street, Port Perry, passed away at Oshawa General Hospital on August 14,.1977. Born in Toronto on September 6 1925, the son of Harry and Olive Cannon, now deceased. 'He married Mary Ann Farmer in Edinburgh, Scotland on June 13, 1946 while serving overseas. He made his home in Toronto, Scugog Island and the last 26 years in Port Perry. Places of employment were General Motors, Oshawa; Tonto Humane Society and was Chief Ste- ward of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 419 at' the time of his passing. He also served on the executive of the Port Perry Legion, Branch 419. Left to mourn the loss is his wife Mary, three sons, Ian of Blackstock, Kevin of Port Perry and David at home; six daughters, Janet (Mrs. Ken Rankin), Jaqueline (Mrs. Ray Rankin), Mary, Laura, Melodie and Sheila at home. Also a brother Malcolm of British Columbia. A son, John Douglas, predeceased. He was a nephew of Mrs. Dell Henders; Fairview Lodge, Whitby. A Legion Funeral Service was held August 17, 1977 from the MecDermott- anabaker Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Brawn officiating. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery. .
