Cour- tice struck first but Port fought back as Ivan 'The Animal" Knight blocked a punt and Paul Jones recover- ed the ball in the end zone. The Redmen faked the con- vert and Gord Simmonds threw a 2 point conversion pass to Greg "Abu" Fedyk. On their next posession of the ball the Redmen marched the ball up to midfield on a - good combination of running and passing. QB Simmonds then threw a 50 yard pass to halfback Scott Wilbur who legged it into the endzone. Simmonds kicked the con- vert and Port led 15-8 at halftime. Port continued their dom- inance in the second half as' Simmonds continued to move the team upfield. He scored the Redmen's third TD on a 20 yeard quarter- back sneak. The Redmen faked the convert again and Simmonds connected with Abu Fedyk in the endzone to make the score 23-8. Cour- tice scored to make the score Goalies strong for Bobcats. by Scott Heard The Port Perry Bobcats Midget 2 club had an im- pressive start to their season: by defeating Bay Ridges on October 17, 5-0 and Bowman- ville on October 22, 5-1. Both goalies, Craig Larmer and Warren Nicholishen kept the goals to a minimum by mak- ing key saves. Scoring for Mersco were Bobbie Goble, Jamie Cannon, Ray Daniels and captain David Burnett with a hat trick. Assists went to Jamie Cannon, Michael Gib- son, Brian Dean, Ray Daniels and Brad Menzie. On October 27th, Port's Mersco's journeyed to Pick- ering for a return game. The first two periods were score- less. Then in the third period with 1:40 left in the game, David Burnett scored assist- ed by Bobbie Goble. Steven Whalen and Mark Kendall shared = the goaltending duties, coming up with their first shut-out. Both Picker- ing and Port played out- standing hockey and showed the fans an exciting evening. Friday, October 28, the Oshawa Red Wings arrived in Port for a return game. Mersco's Novice: All-Stars were ready and defeated the Little N.H.L'ers 7 to 4. Each game has seen a marked improvement in this v team, with each boy giving 100 per cent. The scoring for Port in the fast, hard-fought game, saw Captain David Burnett come in with a '"'hat trick". Assistant captain Bobbie Goble, also, came in with a "really big hat trick". -Steven Durham got a single, with one assist going to Warren Geer and Michael Gibson picking up two assists. Coach Archie Slatham and his wife, Muriel, who is the manager, have come to Port Perry "via Uxbridge. Juveniles squeaker by Scott Wilbur On Thursday, October 27 Port Perry Emiel's Place Juveniles defeated Uxbridge in-a 3-2 thriller. Uxbridge opened the scor- ing but Port countered with a goal by Pete Lane assisted by Tim Kane and Scott Wil- bur. The Juveniles took the lead on a goal by Henry "Freiter at 7:16 of the 1st period. Richie Leforte pick- ed up the assist. Uxbridge scored once more to make it 2-2 but Richie Lefort won it for Port with an unassisted goal at 11:56 of the 3rd period.
