Dale Sawyer scored what proved to be the winner with 40 seconds remaining in the final period as Flamingos topped Lindsay Muskies 9-8 in a free wheeling contest which featured sloppy defen- sive work by both clubs. Sawyer's goal, a perfect slap shot low to the glove side, came just 12 seconds after Lindsay had pulled to within one goal. But the Muskies kept nibbling away in the last minute and after pulling their netminder counted a goal with 12 sec- Bantams trounced On Saturday, October 29th the Canadian Tire Corp. Bantams were thoroughly beaten 8-1 by the Whitby team. Port Perry played well for two periods, there being no scoring in the first and Whitby only scoring two in the second, one of which wis a deflected shot allowing neftinder Peter Christie no ~ chance on the play. The third period however was a complete disaster for Port Perry. Whitby scored just 26 seconds period. Port Perry's only goal came at the 1:30 mark when Jim Daniels found the mark from Todd Healey and Brian Mikkelsen. Whitby answered 16 seconds later and continued with four more in the period. Whitby has a fine season record thus far with 5 wins and no losses, - having scored 37 goals with only 5 against. Port Perry's season record , is even now at two wins and two losses. With just seven minutes remain- ing Lindsay took a short- lived lead before Port Perry tied it up and went ahead to stay as Brad Nicholson scor- ed with two minutes remain- ing in the second. -Including Sunday night's game Flamingos have five wins and four losses. The team is getting plenty of scoring punch from the for- ward lines so far, but defen- sively, the club is giving up better than five goals each game. The team seems to have trouble getting the puck out of their own end, and on occassion Sunday night the Lindsay players were bump- ing Flamingos off the puck along the boards and in the corners. The game Sunday night was a comparatively clean contest with Port Perry pick- ing up eight -minors' and -Lindsay seven, with the five- minute major for high-stick- ing. The teams play a return match this Friday in Lindsay and Flamingos are back home on_ Sunday night against the Port Hope club.
