The three- foot wide "box is adjustable up to a length of about 12 feet. To get the wagon into as near original condition as possible, Mr. Jordan first made a pencil sketch of the decorative art-work which was still faintly visible on ¥ the sides and back, After completing the sketch, the old paint was stripped, the pine boards sanded by hand, and then new coats of paint were applied. The -pWagon is now predominant- ly black with bright red trim on the axles and wheels. 'And on the back is the 'name of the wagon- maker, Sandford and Pully of Fenelon Falls, in bright gold letters. The name was faintly visible before the res- toration started. It is from the wagon makers' name that its app- roximate age has been established. Long-time resi- dents of Fenelon Falls believe that Sandford and Pully went out of business about the turn of the century. The wagon was found last fall by Mr. Angus in Elmira, Ontario, at a Mennonite Carriage Works. - It is entirely original except for a new tongue, which was hand made by a blacksmith in Fenelon Falls, and a new pine seat. The old one was still on the wagon, was rott- ing, making it dangerous for anyone sitting on it. The wooden-spoked wheels have iron rims. The sides and back are decorat- ed with art-work. And the orginal craftsmen must have had a flair for design as even the axles were decorated with gold paint. The original iron springs of the seat remain on the wagon. 'Mr. Jordan is hopeful that the arrangements to bring the wagon to the Blackstock Fair can be made. It would certainly bring back memories for many old- timers in this area who can recall when wagons such as these did their share of work around the farms.
