The annual Green- bank decoration service is on August 21st. The Bar-b-que is on Fri- day, August 19th. On August 14th at 2 p.m. there will be a meeting in the church basement for young and old to help make plans for the big night. Miss Jean Phoenix, a patient of East General Hospital is spending a few days at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Phoenix. Mrs. Janet McCowan of Scarborough spending some time with Mr. and Mrs. Dave Thomson and family. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Walker, Hepworth, were recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. James Ianson, We welcome Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Olivers from Orillia to our village. They are living in the Phoenix house west of the Post Office. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Mec- Millan were guests at the wedding of their grandson, George Hood. The. marri- age took place at Whitby in St.Marks United Church last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Real, Mrs. Wm. Stone and Miss Janice Stone have returned from a holiday motor trip through the eastern pro- vinces. Mrs. Shirley Underwood and daughter Sherri, Cal- gary, have returned home after holidaying with Mr, and Mrs, Leonard Jarvis for the past two weeks. Mr. Albert Waller, Quebec, visiting with friends, and relatives in the area and also attended the wedding of a nephew in Lindsay. Mr. Charles Todd, Hast- ing, England, spent a day with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Couves recently, Mr. Lloyd Ashenhurst, Cardinal, holidaying with Mr. and Mrs. Armour Mc- Millan for the past week. We wish a speedy recov- ery for Leonard Bain who . had the misfortune to break an ankle. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Couves and Mrs. Betty Dob- son and children spent last week attending the events of the Couves Reunion held in Scarborough. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Innes visited with Mrs. Fay Hubbert and girls at Ome- mee last Saturday. Don't forget the W.I. bus trip on August 10th. The euchre party in the hall last Friday evening was well attended. The winners were: Ladies - Rosetta Stone, Elsie Taylor, Erma Watson and Violet Luke. Steve Dearborn of Prince Albert and Robert Burnett of Port Perry were among the 250 youngsters from central Ontario who took part. Several different methods for getting school children safely across busy streets were demonstrated by some of the 250 youngsters taking part in the week-long safety program at Camp Samac. Toronto driver charged A three car collision Sat- urday morning on Highway 12 a mile north of Prospect Corners has resulted in a charge of careless driving being laid against a Toronto man, David Farmer has been charged by Whitby OPP after his 1976 Volkswagen hit a car driven by Franz Elsner of Hamilton which struck a third vehicle driv- en by Marion Davis of Cobourg. Police report no. injuries in the mishap.
