6 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, Apr. 13, 1977 Scugog Island area news by Mrs, Earl Reader Tuesday evening was quite a surprise for Mrs. Edna Beckett when a pot luck supper was held in her honour at the Island Church. In appreciation for her' many years of service as painist and organist, she was presented with a lovely violin case .as the fiddle is now her most recent interest. On behalf of the Junior Choir. she was also presented with a lovely bouquet. Linda Samells and Sandra Pearce played piano selections, After thanking everyone Edna was handed her violin and requested to entertain with a few numbefs accompanied by Ethel and George Freeman with -paino and guitar. Wed. too was busy for many Island people with a luncheon, school science fair and Fashion Show. Fri, evening about 50 people including 9 from Scugog Island attended the Good Friday Service at Manchester. | The Junior Choir and solo was much enjoyed along with the message. On Sun. the Island Church was filled to capacity. The Easter lily on the Commun- ion table was a gift by Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mark o Port Perry in memory of Mrs. Edna McLaren. We were pleased to see visitors at the homes of their daughters, especially Mrs. Ada Pear- son and Mrs. Nellie Miller, There were several little people too, little Taira Cairns from Mississauga, little granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Fralick, Tammie and Nicole Little of Scarborough, grandchildren . of Mr. SEES CLEA Se Wid and: Mrs. Rex Stephenson. The Tripps also had 2 little nephews with them. There were two baptisms, Rachell Ann, tiny daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Robt. Hall, also little Richard John, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norm Tripp. We were pleased to have Rev. Clarke back from his vacation in Florida. The Junior choir sang 3 numbérs accompanied by Mrs. Aileen Kane at the piano and Geo. Freeman and Paul Chilco with guitars. Mr. French's brother who is with the Canadian Armed Forces will soon be taking his wife and child with him to Germany where he will be stationed for 5 years. Don't forget the U.C.W.'S TO NIGHT.
