April is _ the first month in spring and there are many things for the farmers to do. Auction sales galore; machinery to be prepared for the summer work; kids coming home from university; member- ships. Oh yes, this is mem- bership month for the Junior Farmers. A small fee is paid yearly by nearly eighty members in our club alone. This fee is split between county; zone and province and it entitles all members to compete at each level in the province in any of the many activities of the Junior Farmers. It is too bad that all of 'the members don't make use of this, With nearly 80 members, we usually only have about 40 active members, .The others must like our great newslet- ter because that is about all they get for their member- ship. To get something out of Junior Farmers, you have to put into them. Our membership meeting is April 13, 8:00 at the 0.M.AF. office in Uxbridge. "The deadline for member- ship is April 25 to Lisa Puckrin ' This month is also our big Variety Night. This is a production put on yearly by our talented members in the county. The final produc- tions go on April 22 at Brock High School and on the 29th at Port Perry High School. A complete dress rehearsal There is also something every weekend for those -who are sport's minded or like to dance. On the 1st and 2nd, our highly unsuccessful mixed broomball team plays in a tournament in Dundalk. All the support we can get is appreciated. The next weekend, April 9th, a semi- formal dance will be held at * Sunderland Legion.' On April 16th our. frustrated hockey team heads for Prince Edward County to take a shot at a- champion- ship we never seem to reach. The next weekend is our annual Zone dance 'in Cobourg. It is formal dress but a very informal atmos- phere with many friends from across the zone meet- ing again to renew friend- ships.
