The Friday morning pro- gram is for mothers with pre-school children ages two taking In a lecture on childhood diseases, the years and up. Baby sitting is being provided for infants at 75 cents per session. The first hour of the pro- gram is centered in the child's world of play. The mothers and their children create together child crafts. For the second hour, the mothers attend lectures on subjects of interest to par- ents. Included in these informative lectures are such topics as worthwhile books to read to pre-school- ers, childhood diseases, and more. : Meanwhile, children have a mid-morning snack and take part in organized play. Children's programmer, Mrs. Linda Skerratt said the new YMCA program is turn- ing out to be "quite success- ful". Attendance has been very good, she said. 'In fact, we couldn't take many more applicants." Prince Albert man earns Doug McMillan of Prince Albert, an employee of General Motors of Canada for some 14 years, was pre- sented a $10,000. GM Sug- gestion Plan award for a suggestion that ensured re- covery of a potential sales tax loss on some model cars. Doug, an employee in the Oshawa plant's accounts receivable department, shared a suggestion with fellow worker, John Piper, proposing that prices should be revised on imported pas- senger cars equipped with electric rear window defog- gers. ' His was one of only 13 maximum awards of $10,000. during 1976. Doug and his wife, Linda, have three children, Mark 5, Carla 3, and Dana 2. They live at Prince Albert, near Port Perry. Mr. McMillan coaches a hockey team in Port Perry and is a member of Port Perry Curling Club. He probably will pay off money for suggestion some of his mortgage with his award earnings. Under the GM Suggestion Plan, awards can be earned for ideas that improve methods, product design and product quality; result in material and cost savings; provide for improvements in in-plant safety; or result in the conservation of energy.
