By Mrs. Earl Reader It was fortunate that travelling during the holiday season was quite acceptable so that families could fulfil their plans for gatherings and enjoyment. Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Fralick were happy to have daughter Marilyn and family from Sudbury for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Fra- lick were also pleased to have daughter Diane and her family from Toronto, "Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Love had an extended holiday when they flew to New Brunswick to spend the holi- days with daughter Barbara and her family in their new home. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Dowson have been quite busy visit- ing and entertaining friends and relatives. They had a Christmas dinner with son, Jim and wife, in Oshawa. Another dinner was enjoyed last weekend with cousins in Lindsay. This last Thursday, their former Scugog Island friends, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Day, now living in Cleve- land, visited with them until Sunday. So now it's back to work again until the next holiday comes up. Mrs. Lil Moore spent the holiday season at the home of her brother at Sheridan, near Oakville. Mr. and Mrs. John King entertained a large family of relatives for Christmas dinner before the former's parents left for a trip to Florida. The Island Church Service began the year with Holy Communion as it was done also in many other churches. Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Heywood Short entertained 20 relativ- es and friends at the Rock- haven Restaurant in Peter- borough, Sunday afternoon to celebrate the New Year. Linda and Mary Lee Wanamaker from Oshawa visited with their grand- parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wanamaker for a few days last week. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wana- maker entertained Mr. and Mrs. Ron Wanamaker and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wanamaker and family, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Wana- maker and family and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Reynolds of Port Perry on New Years Day. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs, Herman Sweetman from Oshawa and Mr. Gord Sweetman from Port Perry were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wana- maker. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilson of Port Perry were Sunday guests of Mrs. Clements and Belairs. The Seagrave U.C.W. will meet at the church on Wed- nesday, January 12 at 8 p.m. Following the busi- ness, the new slate of officers for 1977 will be duly installed.
