Thousands of Scugog Township residents cele- brated the arrival of 1977 last Friday evening at dances and parties in most every corner of the town- ship. Near capacity crowds fill- ed the Legion Hall, Curling Club, Town Hall 1873, Catholic Church Hall, Utica, Blackstock and Nestleton Halls and numerous other .gathering places throughout the area. Outside, in Port Perry, the streets 'were near bare as the temperature dipped to a chilly minus 20C., but inside the bands struck up hours of music for the well- wishers of the new year.
