Sundértand 705-357-3270] News from the Se by Mrs. Marilyn Beacock Our annual White Gift Service was held on Sunday evening and as usual was no disappointment to anyone. Many thanks to the committee who planned and directed the service and especially the little ones who, as always, make the entire program so enjoy- able. A special thank you to "all the parents who helped prepare the costumes, props etc and last but certainly: not least, our organist Mrs. Joan Lee who helps us get it all together. On Monday evening Marilyn Puckrin welcomed all of the Unit 2 girls into her home for our annual Christmas get-together. After an evening of charades and of course a few odd chuckles she treat- ed us to a lovely buffet lunch. Marilyn was then presented with a beautiful poinsettia_ in appreciation for her contribution to our Unit as® group leader. Santa is going modern these days though. He ground to a halt in front of the Latcham Centre on Sunday afternoon riding in the caboose of a snowmobile driven by Dave Ballingall. (I didn't notice if Dave's nose was red like Rudolf's or not!) Waiting for this jolly old fellow were almost 100 very wide-eyed and excited little members of the Port Perry Snowmobile Club and their parents. This particular Santa sure had it made in the shade because he was lucky enough to have a couple of good-lookin' gals to assist him in handing out the gifts to all the kiddies. The two gals in mention were Betty Gray and Debbie Drink- water. The Snowmobile Club were very. pleased to have some members of the Senior Citizens Club join.us for the afternoon. I imagine watching the frivolity through their eyes must have brought back the odd memory of their own child- hood Christmas or that of their own family. Many thanks to the commiftee who made the arrangements for this most enjoyable afternoon and providing the refreshments and Christmas cake after- wards. Tuesday evening the Mothers' Auxiliary for the Cubs, Scouts, Beavers and Brownies met at the home of Mrs. Liz Perry in Green- bank. All those present expressed pleasure at the generous amount which was raised at our recent Bazaar. It was decided that we BRL TORY should arrange an annual Bazaar and a tentative date of Nov. 26 was chosen for next year. Plans for a sleighriding party for the kids is scheduled for the middle of February. More on that later. Glad 'to have Miss Gerri Scanlon home for the holidays from Trent Uni- versity in Peterborough. As we enter into the final lap of hustle and bustle before Christmas let us not forget that Christmas is a whole lot more than Santa Claus and all the lovely gifts under the tree. I wonder how many of us will stop to recall the real mean- ing of Christmas - Christ's birth. In closing may I person- ally extend a warm wish to each and everyone that your entire holiday season hold nothing but joy and happiness for you and your loved ones and a special christmas greeting to our "STAR" staff and their x TYPEWRITERS 4 ADDRESS BOOKS & 1977 JOURNALS & DIARIES Christmas WITH A DIFFERENCE GIANT POPPITS (17: x 2302) REGULAR POPPITS (12x 16) PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1976 -- 25 agrave area families.
