The Pacers had ties in the two previous games against Newcastle and it looked like the third meeting would ned in a similar manner. The opening period was scoreless but in the second, Tim Kane was right in front of the net when the puck squirted out of a confusion of players. He wasted no time batting it in, to put Port Perry ahead. Newcastle retaliated and the game was still tied until Dennis Frans- sen flipped one in with only 4 seconds left in the game. Newcastles goalie Don Nicholson was the major problem for the Pacers: He made outright steals from Lane, Owen and Healey in the first and Mark Lee in the third. The game in Pickering was also a tough win for the Pacers. Peter Lane opened the scoring as- he collected a rebound. . It was Owens driginal shot and Mark Lee took a swat at it and Lane finally poked it in. Healey had a pair of goals and Greiner a pair of assists to lead the Pacers to the 4-2 victory. The boys had trouble in Port Hope on Friday, loosing 6-3. Trounce Orono 14-1 by Scott Wilbur On Friday, Dec. 10 the Mersco Novice Allstar de- molished Orono 14-1. David "'Schultzie" Burnett led the way with 4 goals and 2 assists. Steve Durham had the hat-trick. Jeff Cockerton had a pair while singles went to Goble, White, Abraham, VanCamp and Menzies. Will host playdowns Port Perry Business Girls Curling Club will host the District Trophy Playdowns for the Business Girls of District G, S.0.L.C.A. on December 18 and 19. It is anticipated representatives from eight clubs will be participating. On Dec. 12 the boys travel- led to Brooklin where they went down to defeat 4-2. Port fell behind 2-0 but came back with goals by Jay VanCamp and Craig Menzies. Brooklin-Whitby popped in 2 goals to make the final 4-2. Moore and Treen played well in the nets for Port. Port Hope scored in the first minute of play and added another, but the Pacers came back to tie on goals by Jay Adam from Lane and Healey and Mike Healey from Lane and Kemp. The teams traded goals once more as Rob Kemp scored unassisted but Port Hope finished strongly with three more goals. The Grant Menzie Pacers hosted this same Port Hope them again. Dec. 17. On Monday, Dec. 20 they play Uxbridge in Port Perry. Keep in mind the big two day tournament December 26-27 in Port Perry involving Midgets and Bantam teams.
