by Andrea Jones In a home game on Thurs- day night the Port Perry Flamingos defeated 'the first place Bowmanville Red Eagles 4-3. The Eagles led 2-1 at the end of the first period. Durward looked a little. shakey on the Bowmanville goals but Sandy Cameron came storming down the wing and fired the Flaming- os first goal into the top corner. Bowmanville scored early in the second as the defense failed to clear away the rebound. "Jake" Kane sizzled one past the Eagles netminder to close the gap, and Dave Webster tied the score when his shot from deep in the. corner deflected into the net off the goalies arm. The winner was on a beautiful play by Stu Coch- rane who set up Bob Sin- clair perfectly. 'Suspensions seemed to hurt the Eagles more than the Flamingos as Cochrane and Malcolm filled in for the missing Evans and Van- Camp. . The Flamingos hung on to beat Stouffville Clippers 8-7 on Saturday night. Dave Webster had a big night collecting five points on three goals and a pair of assists. The score was tied at the end of the first on goals by John Scott from Christie and Hennessey and Webster from Hennessey and Page. 16-inch auger. Other point-getters for the Flamingos were Cameron with a goal and two assists; Christie, one goal and one assist; Gord Scott from Webster and Stu Cochrane 3 picked up an assist. The fourth encounter with the Frankford Huskies ended in another tie (5-5). John Scott opened the scor- ing with a neat back-hand goal assisted by Len Thorn- bury but the Huskies who never quit, came right back with two. Webster tucked in Hennessey's shot from the point to tie it and Basil McCrae sent the Flamingos into the lead with a powerful drive from the blue line. Rob Evans added another over the downed Huskie goalie, from Webster and Christie. But mistakes caught up with the Flamingos and Frankfort scored in the last few seconds of the middle period to close the gap. Cameron got the goal back assisted by Kane and John Scott but the Huskies were bound that the Flamingos wouldn't take the extra points. They scored twice in the third period to earn the tie. The Flamingos had no luck at all with their power play opportunities and many shots were of the target. One of the hardest workers out there was Len Thornbury who skated miles, retrieving the pucks that the Huskies kept dumping into the Flamingo zone.
