McEntyre gather- ed the children around the advent wreath and explained to them why the first candle "was lit. Two children were e baptiz- ed during the service. Samuel Aaron, son of Margaret and Art Mathews and Ryan Alexander, son of Eva and Don Anderson. The: sacrement of Holy Communion was observed, marking the beginning of the Christmas services in the church. Next Sunday being Bible Sunday, we will have Miss Joan Mellor, Missionary from Chad, Africa, also Mr. Rex Norman, destrict secretary for the Canadian Bible Society. Miss Mellor will also speak to the church school at 10 a.m.. Dec 12th will be white gift Sunday and Dec. 19th there will be a family service beginning with a birthday ' party for Jesus at 10 o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Faulkner of Glen Major were visitors with Misses Hilda and Mary and Mr. Walter Hopkins recently. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Pugh of Pickering were dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Ashton and family last Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. W. Davis, Mr. and Mrs. E. Heron, Mrs. W. Gardner and Mrs. C. Bryant attended the annual Christmas and dinner meet- ing of the Brooklin Horticul- Root of the problems continued the support of a majority of the politicians in power. We will be in serious difficulties the day that majority is crooked. Or judges commit themselves to judge by the law and are not obligated to do justice at all. Our public system of education does not seem to be aware of the need for teaching justice, either. They just repair their vandalized schools and call for more police. Santa Claus L i LJ is coming Although there is still some room for floats and other entries, this year's Santa Claus Parade is shap- ing up to be another success. About five bands including the Brampton Senators and" every-popular Clowns Band will take part this year, as well as many of the regular floats that in past years have made the parade such a success. The parade will start at 2 p.m., December 4th at the Port Perry High School grounds, proceed down Queen Street to the Latcham Santa will be on hand at the Centre to hand out bags of goodies to the wide-eyed youngsters. Also this year, one of the bands will go to the Port Perry Plaza to entertain shoppers in that area. SVE RAR nS ture Society on Wed. evening of last week.
