Share points with Frankfort, Stouffville By Andrea Jones Injuries and generally in- effective play on the part of the whole team, forced Flamingos coach Dave Nicholishen to make some changes last week. This - The Flamingos picked up a pair of points over the week-end, tieing Frankfort 8-8 on Friday and Stouffville 6-6 at home on Sunday. The undisputed leader in both games was Doug Christie, collecting seven points in Frankfort and five more against Stouffville. Christie had four goals in Frankfort and was awarded the M.V.P. of the game. The 8-8 tie was earned the hard way with both the Huskies and the Flamingos collecting 40 minutes in penalties. Remember the disastrous '10-6 loss in Stouffville a few weeks ago? Well, it was a different. Flamingo club that met the Clippers on Sunday "night, Christie took up where he left off in Frankfort and opened the scoring for Port Perry. Combined with John and Gord Scott they hustled, checked and created their own breaks all through the game. ' Another good move sent Bob Evans up on a line with Sinclair and Webster. They came close on. several occasions and finally connected late in the third period. The defense pair of Van- 'Camp and Kane were very effective, allowing only one goal and giving Little, who . played the first two periods and Durward in the third, plenty of assistance. Stouffville seemed to see the writing on the wall when Christie scored his fourth goal at the 7:34 mark of the third period. They demand- ed an examination of his stick and as a result the goal was disallowed. This tactic only served to fire up the Flamingos even more. Just to prove that he could score with any stick, Christie fired one under Marshmans legs from Mec- Crae and John Scott. , Webster's goal at 16:20 mark from Evans and Mc- "Crae tied it up and it was Marshman's agility facing 18 shots in the third period that prevented the win for Port Perry. The wins are tougher to get when there seems to be little fan support. The Flamingos next home game is Dec. 5 against the Stouffville Clippers. The game was a little more than a minute old when Uxbridge opened up the scoring. Darren De- saultes then tied the game for Port Perry halfway through the first period assisted on the play by Kevin Fowler and Fred Cockerton. Early in the second period Desaultes connected again, this time with a hard shot after re- ceiving a pass from Brian Stevenson. Uxbridge came back to tie the game exactly 3 minutes later as Connery fired the goal. The second period ended 2-2. But in that all important third period the Port Perry team came up with a lacklustre effort and paid dearly for it. The extra drive needed to finish off plays just was not there. As a result Uxbridge scored the only two goals of the period for a 4-2 win. Paul Bateman went the dis- tance in the Port Perry net as Paul Goreski was exper- iencing problems. - On Saturday afternoon in Pickering' the Atoms came up with a much improved effort as they won by a convincing 6-1 count. Paul Bateman and Paul Goreski shared the goaltending duties. They almost had the shutout as it was not until late in the third period that Pickering got their only goal. Howard -Lee opened up the scoring for Port Perry as he tucked the puck home from close range. Steven Lee and Jeff Johnstone received assists on the play. equipment Before the first period had ended Darren Desaultes had increased the count to 2-0 as he fired a drive into the Pickering net. Ian Dickson got the assist on this play. The second period was completely dominated by Port Perry. Mike Dickson made it 3-0 early into the period assisted on the play by David Kemp. Steven Lee was the story for the rest of. the period as he scored three straight goals on solo efforts. His first goal was a high shot that wasted no time in getting into the net. The next goal was a fine rush up the ice as he left a Pickering de- fenceman in his tracks before firing a shot into the net. Steven went end to end once again showing some good moves and when he was finished the score was 6-0 for Port Perry. The Port boys had some good chances to up the count in the third period but the only goal was scored by Picker- ing and the game ended 6-1. Sunday night in New- castle the Port Perry team had an exhibition game with a L.N.H.L. team from Oshawa. The result was a fine 6-2 victory for the Atoms. Steven Lee continu- ed his scoring ways as he got his second hat trick of the week-end. Mike Pratt / sharpened his scoring aver- age as he also connected for three goals. Paul Bateman and Paul Goreski both play- ed well between the pipes for the Port squad. Once again, the Atoms came up with a good effort to secure the victory. The Port Perry Malmont Farms regular season record is 4 wins, 4 losses and 1 tie.
