As numerous fans remarked after the game, you don't see many scoreless games anymore. This type of game was high-lighted by the superb and brilliant goaltending of Rob Fransen and the Markham goalie. From end to end the play surged, with many close calls by both teams throughout the game. It was hard to pick oyt anyone in particular outside of the goalies, in-a game such as this, as all of the CTC boys played exceedingley well, with great spirit and deter- mination showing on the team. The Port boys are showing more confidence and are improving with every game. ALL-STARS 2 - OSHAWA 2 In an Exhibition game' played at Port Perry, Nov. 26, the CTC boys played to a 2-2 tie against the Oshawa L.N.H.L. Blackhawks. Out- played for most of two periods by the bigger Oshawa team, Rob Frans- sen came up big again to keep the Port boys in the game. There was no scor- ing until the second period when Oshawa broke the ice to score the first goal. . The CTC boys tied it up 3 min- - utes later when Rod Vern- on, who was injured earlier in the game, came back and scored, assisted by Rowen Kennedy and Pat Johnson. In the third period the Port boys came out with more zeal and took over the game as the captain of the team, Pat Johnson, scored with an assist by Todd Healey to moved ahead 2-1. Oshawa scored again to tie it up at 2-2 as time ran out. The next CTC Bantam B All-Star game is on Wednes- day, Dec. 1st, at 7:45 against Uxbridge. The loss was their first of the season in league play and snapped an eight game winning streak. Port opened the scoring at the 30 second mark of the first period on a good pass- ing play that went from Jones to Storry to Horton and back to Storry who popped it into the net. Port Hope came storming back to score at the 2:40 mark and seconds later scored their second goal. Port Hope held the 2-1 lead at the end of the first period. They continued to come on strong in the second period and dominated the play. They scored twice in this period to build up a 4 to 1 lead. Penalties hurt Port in Novice defeat Pickering by Scott Wilbur On Saturday, November 20 the Port Perry Mersco Novice travelled to Cobourg . where this tight defensive battle ended in a 2-2 draw. Cobourg opened the scor- .ing in the 2nd period but Port fought back with a goal by Greg Warriner in the third period an unassisted goal by Andy Systma tied the score. On the following Satur- day, Port demolished Pickering 7-0. Warriner and Burnett led the way with 2 goals each. Singles: went to Systma, Menzies and VanCamp. Steve Dur- ham had 3 assists. Wilbur, Goble, Abraham and White all had single assists. ELECT ye COUNCILLOR FOR WARD 4 Highway 47 PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1976 -- 19 First league loss in 9 games the second period and the only bright spot was some excellent penalty killing by Horton. Port got back in the game early in the third period as - Horton scored on a pass from Storry. Wallace then narrowed the gap to one goal at the 7:29 mark. Storry drew an assist on the play. The Legionaires came within an ace of tying the game in the dying moments as Young was set up in front of the net but was stopped on the shot and also missed the rebound. Sunday, Nov. 28 at home the boys bounced back from their defeat at Port Hope to shut out the Oshawa Black- hawks 3 to 0. This was a good fast skat- ing game with end to end rushes as both teams moved the puck well. Jones opened the scoring for Port in the second period with Storry and Hor- ton assisting. Young got two in the third period, the first unassisted as he stole the puck off an Oshawa player and raced in 'to score. Less than a minute later he scored on a good backhand 'shot. Burnett drew an assist on the play.
