LJ . » 4 LJ 3 $ ) ¢ age 2 ® Lg by Mrs. Rose Herron A very interesting evening was held at the community centre on Wednesday even- ing of last: week. A good attendance was entertained with several pleasing musical numbers and every- one was treated to straw- berry shortcake. Mayor Gartshore and several members of the Whitby councillors were in attendance. Nothing definate has been decided about the park land so far. Several from our area en- joyed the horticulture meet- ing' in Brooklin the same evening. Mr. Doug Ashton received an award for the best speciman in the show, which was a beautiful pink peony. Mrs. W. Davis, Mrs. D, Ashton and Mrs. W. Gardner also won prizes in the show. . Mr. Ray Halward, plant propagator for the Royal Botanical Gardens in Hamil- ton gave a very interesting talk on how to propagate and care for plants and shrubs. A very happy afternoon Congratulations to Marie Devereux, A.R.C.T., A. T.C.L., A. Parrinder to honour Mrs. C. Harrison on the occasion of her 80th birth- day. Ruby is a good friend and neighbour and has been an active member of the church and community through the years and we wish her many more happy birthdays. It is good to see Miss Mary Hopkins out again after being a shut-in for several weeks on account of illness. Mr. Roy Hamilton con- ducted the Sunday morning church service. He took his sermon from St. Luke 14: "Christian Discipleship'. Mr. Hugh Knight sang a solo "Face to Face". Next Sun- day Rev. McEntyre, who is attending the Coral Ridge Conferance for the Presby- terian Church in Canada, will be back with us. Don't forget the straw- berry social that will be held in the church hall on Satur- day evening, being sponsor- ed by the Burns Welcome Club. St BORER ETOP MATTE VA A Sy . 4 Fol TREE Pel UT Vite I'll be back to the drawing board for a proposed bylaw regulating and governing the operations of tourist camps in the Township of Scugog. Seems that as it stands, the bylaw would close the door for large groups of overnight campers. What council is trying to avoid is a repeat of a recent camp-out involving hund- reds of citizen band enthus- iasts who turned out for a 'jamboree' on Scugog Island. But if council decided to pass the bylaw as it stood, the 300 cyclists visiting here as part of the Cycle Canada Hospital Report Week Ending June 24, 1976 Admissions ...................... 39 Emergencies .................. 198 Operations......................... 6 Discharges....................... 43 Remaining ...................... 32 For Photograph REPRINTS from the Port Perry Star Phone 985-7383 SPECIAL Gliddon's Spread Lustre PAINT *14.75 Gallon *4.50 Quart Kamrolights in Stock For livingroom, kitchen or rec room. ' CLOCA continued Scugog has indicated it wants to be affiliated with the southern authority. Since the Region of Dur- ham spreads the cost of CLOCA operation across the membership within the region, Scugog is paying their share of CLOCA now--a share that would remain the same even if the authority enlarged their responsibili- ties here. No decision was made to petition the Region for the expansion. An embarrassing situation to say the least. Council will attempt to put some flexibility in the bylaw, allowing overnight camping while exercising some control Latcham continued events so should anything to missing, appropriate action can be taken immediately He pointea out that senior citizens have been.
