His work in the previous games of this series looked a little shakey - at times, but this one game made up for any bad ones. Mark Le¢ opened the scor- Jing for the Wheels, collect- ing his own rebound with assists going to Stu Cochy. rane and Rob Evans, * But Mitchell, who been peppering Durward, finally. connected from an unattended winger to tie the score. ®ALEK TRICIAN= A ALEK TRICIAN ES; YOULL BE SEEING ME IN THE ADS RUN BY YOUR FRIEND BOWMAN ELECTRIC o Residential ~ @ Industrial e Commercial UXBRIDGE 852-7352 ad, ~ . shot. With goal-tending like that the boys up front had better come up with some better efforts. - With y '1';22 remaining -in the period, Gord Hintze tipped in a blistering drive from Steve Jones to send: Port Perry into the lead." But the period was still a long way from being over for either team 'as Durward came up with the big save in his pads and the puck dropped between his legs and didn't go over. With 10 seconds left, Mark Lee had a breakaway that took two Mitchell players to stop, causing a penalty shot, Lee slid heavily into the boards on the play and it .was questionable whether he would be able to take the But the gutsy little rookie feeling the effects of the check and the normal ° butterflies of the situation Lambeth next The Toyota Wheels -will meet 'Lambeth tonight, Wed., March 31, for the first game of the OMHA Midget C Championship. Both teams were glad of the break between periods. In the third period again Durward came up with un- believable stops as Mitchell came out flying trying again and again to find the secret to getting the puck past the Wheels netminder. With ward made a stick save and lunged over to cover an open corner. Again the puck squirted free and with Dur- ward down, it seemed a simple matter to lift the puck over for the goal. But out of the corifusion in front of the net, shot a red arm and Durward's magic glove had foiled Mitchell again. It was Durward who took the steam out of Mitchell and sent. them back to their bench shaking their heads. Half-way through the period, the Wheels really clinched the victory with a flurry of goals. ; Gord Hintze made a lovely pass to Phil Cochrane who tucked it high in the net and on an identical type of play, PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, Mar. 31, 1976 -- 19 r Ontario finals make it 6-1, With only seconds left, Mitchell pulled their goalie on a last desperate attempt to score but even that foiled as Mark Lee completed his 'hat trick into the empty net. Mike McQuade took a pass' from Stu Cochrane to score. Steve Jones slipped one in from Lee and Evans to With a 7-1 score, it was still a squeaker as Mitchell out shot Port Perry 39-32, and as one parent put it after the game, "There aren't enough words to describe that game."
