12 a. PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1976 -- 7 Nestleton, Caesarea and area news By Jean Bolan May I, on behalf of the community, extend a warm thank you for past years of excellent service to Mr. P. Hvidsten, accompanied by a sincere 'wish fora pleasant retirement, There is no doubt of course that the old adage, *'like father like son" shall 'prevail where his suc- cessor js concerned, for Peter has had an excellent' teacher. It is delightful' to walk into the Star office at any give time and discover that'no matter how busy any member of the staff of our "Home Town' paper is, one is bid a pleasant hello with a cheerful smile. There "were * countless _ parties on New Years Eve in many areas, all of- which, I am certain, were pleasant, but the one sponsored by the Nestleton and area Rec. Centre Com. was surpassed - by none. A capacity crowd was in attendance. The mus- ic. provided by Garry Bris- tow and his band kept every- one on their. feet for the entire evening. Whatever your desire in the way of dance music, you got it. GOING OVERSEAS PASSPORT PHOTO Contact Peter Hvidsten 985-7383 . These young men are very talented and are all excep- tionally adept at the art of keeping 'everyone on the move. As a rule when you attend a dance of any type, several couples remain at their table. This is not the case when Garry and the boys play. If you are given the opportunity:to at- tend a dance where they are playing, do not miss it... you shall enjoy yourself I assure you. The' usual deléctable buffet was available to all. Yes, it is pleasant to bring a New Year in in 'lovely sur- roundings and with friends and nejghbours. Once more the members of the Nestle- ton and area Rec. Center committee have displayed their prowess in the art of giving a most enjoyable party. : The members of Court Lady Snowbird held their January meeting in the " Nestleton Rec. Center on Wed. the 7th. We feel that "Snowbird" started the new year right for we have acquired three new mem- bers in the persons of Mrs. Warren Rohrer, Mrs, Marg. Jones and her daughter-in law, Mrs. Heather Jones. Fourteen members were in attendance. The meeting opened ac- cording. to ritual. The Chaplain Ann Lee read the opening prayer. Sandy Day, rec.-sec. read the minutes of the previous meeting, follow-. ed by the correspondance. Many thank you cards were read and acknowledged. The financial report was submit- ted by Marg Lee, A commit- tee report re the children's Christmas party was submit- ted by Shirley Jackson, who in detail ¢onveyed to all that the children had a fun filled evening and that Mrs, Santa Clays, portrayed by. Mrs. Emmie Cox, Miss Christmas Carol," portrayed by Miss Melody Train and an ador- able snowman, portrayed by Miss Denise Train, kept the children agag. The president Dorothy Lee thanked the ladies and girls that helped to make the "Christmas for the kids" delightful. The Recording Secretary inform- ed us that the next E.O.P.A. (Eastern Ontario Provincial Assembly) shall be hosted by Court Huronia at the Nota- wassagua Inn in the town of Alliston in April. A receipt for our donation to the Cystic Fibrosis Telethon was ack- nowledged. It was unani- mously agreed upon to post- pone the elections for new officers until June as at this time of year our agenda is full and this added task would be better accepted in June. The new officers may then be installed following the summer recess. Court Lady Snowbird be- came a Charter ten years ago on Marth 5th and we have plans for a form of celebrating, more on this later.
